When I said I'm done for today I meant to stop updating the status of the game. Please this is nothing. I was here all year through thick and thin. I've been here when our bullpen s*** the bed and gave up a million games. I'm here when we lose to the Yanks. I'm here when we get rocked by another MLB team. In other words I'm always here no matter what the outcome.

Honestly, 2010 was probably the most fun I've had with a season. They might not have gotten to the playoffs, but damn they never once gave up, no matter how many Darnell McDonalds or Scott Atchisons were on this team, they kept playing despite the holes in the team.

Yeah, we hanged in there for quite sometime. Losing Ellsbury for 104 games, Pedroia for 47 games, Lowell for 77 games, Cameron for 74 games, and Youkilis for 20 really hurt. I know I'm forgetting people but I'm not gonna write them all. We had to settle for rookies(see:Nava and Kalish). Funny thing is we were STILL a great team offensively because you know we're that BOSS. ;)

A lot of people(mostly fans outside of the Sox) were criticizing us because they said we were blaming this team on injuries. It's the truth. Yeah, our bullpen sucked(outside of Bard) but the injuries played a bigger role IMO. The baseball gods weren't nice to us at all last year, but I'll forgive them if we win the WS this year

No-one's questioning your loyalty. I was just happy that the Yankees lost.

I've been in Ft. Myers for a couple of days. Here's some initial reactions and thoughts:

  • Jed Lowrie is looking noticeably stronger and more fit
  • Beckett is looking like he also did some serious physical training in the off-season
  • Kalish has the best OF arm that the Sox have had in years. He made two great throws today-- one to third and a pea to home plate. He also had 3 hits including a double and single to the opposite field.
  • Youkilis's hand seems fully healed and healthy as he is hitting everything extremely hard.
  • Pedroia is moving fine. He attempted a steal today. The foot doesn't seem to be a concern.
  • Mat Albers sucks

Thank god. Dude looked like an absolute slob last spring.

When is gonzo going to get into a game!!!! any thoughts?
The word is that he'll be playing next week. I had a Gonzo sighting today and got a picture which I'll post tomorrow.

Gonzo sighting at City of Palms Park on Tuesday. Is that Mrs. Gonzo with him?

Also spotted Dice K arriving pretty late-- around 12:30. He had a press contingent with him. It is very unusual for a player to be arriving that late.

Some more observations from my time down here:

  • Papelbon is throwing quite a few offspeed pitches-- a much higher percentage than we are used toseeing from him. If he can master the secondary pitches, he should have a very successful season.
  • Ortiz is still having a lot of trouble with lefties. He looks lost against the southpaws.
  • I'm not crazy about Lowrie being the backup first baseman and third baseman as well as MIF. I like a power stick to back up 1st or 3rd
  • Lin can't hit enough for the majors
  • Iglesias is very small and slight. I can't see him being productive offensively at the ML level. Lowrie will play well enough that Iglesias will see nothing more than a September cup of coffee.

MLB.TV is the best thing ever. I'm glad I bought it for my girlfriend for her birthday.

It turns out to be more of a gift to myself. Why pay attention in class when I can watch the Sox play?

Haha holy s*** what an ending. Tejeda hits a triple to left center, tries to go home on a throwing error and gets thrown out.

Now they're debating whether it was a HR. At least we know Tejeda has wheels.

EDIT: Home run, tie game. Oscar Tejeda with the game tying home run.

And then some other scrub hits a go ahead HR! Sutton! Who the f*** are you?

I'm so glad I remembered there was a game just in time to see the top of the 9th.

EDIT: Fuuuck Casey Kotchman with the game tying double. In other news, Casey Kotchman is on the Rays apparently!

EDIT2: Rays walkoff home run :(

How about the fact that Ellsbury is hitting .440/.462/.680/1.142 this spring?!? That guy is on absolute fire. After his injuries last year, I think I forgot how good he can be when he's hot. I don't see him having any problem jumping into our leadoff role on opening day.
