I just bought tickets to my first sox game. I didn't have much choice in seats because I needed to get 8 together so I ended up with RFG section G1 row 6.

Can someone tell me how good these seats are? Will we be able to see alright?

Thanks for any replies.

This is about what you are looking at. Section 1 GS is a tough section to watch a game in, better off in the bleachers IMO.

I have never been to Fenway Park.

And probably will never go.

The reason is fairly simple. I've heard horror stories about the width of their seats, and that's from ordinary men. I'm built like a yeti, huge in every possible dimension. I don't mind watching a game, and I'd love to watch the Sox, but I'd like to be able to walk out of the stadium under my own power when it's over, and I have my doubts that would happen if I went to Fenway. A 6'6" 400LB guy getting wheeled out of the park because he destroyed his knees and hips in too-narrow seating would be a tragic way to end my ambulatory career. Not would it be polite or comfortable for me to stand for an entire 3+ hour game. So it's pretty much not happening.

You should get Monster seats. Never been up there but seems like those have a little bit of room up there. Can anyone confirm this for me?

Yeah lots more room in the monster seats but I'd go for the standing room monster seats first. There's a nice ledge you can lean on all game.

Thanks, thats a cool website.

We had only 2 choices for seating of 8 and the other we would need to sit/look sideways and that was not something my husband can do.

I think it will all be great anyway. Just going on Memorial Day will be fun. We're all excited. Half of us have never been to a game.

Bleacher seats are not nearly as closed quarters as the grandstand.

I am like 6'1 240 and I have no problem fitting in the grandstand. Ive seen much bigger guys than me fit in those seats. You really shoulnt have that much of a problem if you get an end seat in the bleachers. Green Monster seats are pretty big as well (although they cost much more).

Dont let your size deter you from going to a game. Its something that every RedSox fan has to do, if only to be around the park before the game. Its a really special time. Ive been there prob a little more than 100 times, and every time I do....when I walk up the ramp and look at the field...I get the same feeling I did the very first time I did it when I was 5.

OMG! I'm having a bitch of a time with finding a seat that is 1) actually sitting 2) can actually read player numbers, forget seeing their faces 3) you dont have to sit in the dark under the grandstand 4) and is less than $100

and this is for a texas game in sept!

any thoughts on loge box 102? $105 each

(starting to think going to the game is overrated)

Baseball games are still the most fun sporting events to attend.

Honestly, like any sporting event you're going to know less about what is truly going on as opposed to a TV or even radio broadcast. You really feel out of the loops in regards to knowing about an injury, umpiring decision, or any tactics that are pretty straight forward but not as obvious if an announcer isn't drawing your attention to such facts such as matchups, substitutions or keeping track of who is warming up in the bullpen.

Unless you've never been to Fenway I would never pay for more than 75 bucks for a ticket unless it was a lifetime opportunity to sit behind home plate, near the on-deck circle or possibly monster seats (although I've been told these are no better than glorified bleacher seats.) You're always better off knowing when tickets go on sale and getting them directly through the team or ticketmaster. StubHub/AceTicket are all ripoffs and I've vowed I will never use those sites.

IMO, center field bleachers are the best seats on the field in terms of cheaper options. Section 35 and 36 (lower sections) are awesome places to watch a game. The only place you lose a ball is in the triangle.

@ #2- You do know that they introduce every player when they come up to bat correct? If you really want to see their numbers buy binoculars..and I'm serious.

not helpful. probably from a guy who buys "obstructed view" seats and is grateful for the opportunity.

Yes they are very small last game i went to was back in high school, and remember can barely fitting. And im heavier now so im guessing the seats will be very uncomfortable. Unless if they got new seats since I was in high school which was the year they won there second world series.

Trust me, you won't be the first guy to ever go to Fenway of your size. Thousands have survived.

Heavier guys have no problem fitting in to the bleacher seats as well as the monster seats.

Think of bleacher bums......fat, drunk with 4 hot dogs, 2 beers, cracker jack.....well, those obese guys manage to fit their asses in the seat.

If you are worried about the comfort of others, dont be. The seating sucks and is uncomfortable to begin with. All you need to worry about is having a great time. Never once have I EVER looked at someone and said "wow, they shouldnt be here". Its just not like that.

IF YOU WANT TO GO, THEN GO. The only thing stopping you is your own excuses and self pity.

What's interesting is 50 years ago, nobody complained about the size of the seats at Fenway. Is everybody getting fat, or what? Maybe the seats are getting smaller. Maybe there are too many fast food restaurants these days.

The other thing is the bleacher seats used to be long benches. Now they are separate seats.

Lucchino et al must have figured out they could cram more people into narrow seats than benches.
