Make fun of me if you want, but I went out there.

And I got to meet Lucchino.

Awesome. I was thinking about going....and then promptly forgot.

Who's celebrating!?

Well I am for one. I don't know why but on this day I wish I lived in Boston so I could be there when the trucks leave Fenway Park. I have to read about this event and enjoy it in absentia. It's another example of what an icon the Red Sox have become. Now if they could only go out there this season and give us a title of some kind. BTW, did you go to Truck Day?

I didn't recognize you in your casual Sox wear. When I met you, you were all suited up. It looks like you had a good time.

LL is taller than I thought. I've seen him, but never stood next to him. I always thought he was on the short side.

Here's another picture of the truck leaving for Florida:

Strange, because this truck followed your truck....

Once again, it's finally truck day. Is anyone planning on going?

Unfortunately, no. I'd love to do it just once but that 250 mile drive..... Ugh

If anyone here does go please post some pics.

Now I have to go and text "HAPPY TRUCK DAY" to my kids. :D

300 pairs of pants

400 t-shirts

400 pairs of socks

20 cases of bubble gum

60 cases of sunflower seeds

What? These guys don't even have to buy their own SEEDS??? Do then need a raise in pay???

They do it because of the sponsorship deal with Pepsi/Frito Lay. Players aren't allowed to use other brand seeds. Same deal with the gum.

I was all over this today on the Red Sox Twitter and Snapchat. I must say that it sprung up on me pretty quick this year

@craigcalcaterra

I've asked this before, but I've never gotten a good answer: why don't baseball teams just order sunflower seeds and gum to be delivered to their spring training facilities rather than pay for their own gas to ship it themselves on trucks?

The same could be asked of many supplies like baseballs.

My guess is these supplies are ordered in great quantity for the season or a large part of the season. While carrying large inventory can be expensive, maybe clubs have some sort of financial advantage doing things this way. Or maybe no one is paying attention? I doubt that.

My guess is that they typically warehouse everything close to Boston. Supplies from Spring Training would have to be sent back to Boston at some point before the start of the season anyway via truck (all the MLB player helmets, bats, etc.). May as well just ship everything to Boston and stock the truck there.
