John Henry and Tom Werner took part in a live phone in with Liverpool fans a few weeks before Christmas. Up until that event, the team had been having bad results which are attributed to our manager and his tactice. Henry stated then that the results were unacceptable and had to improve. Fast forward to present day and nothing has improved, the fans are at breaking point with the manager/coach. Saturdays attendance at Anfield was down by 10,000, and last nights game at Blackburn (which we lost) attendance was down amongst the travelling Liverpool fans. This period represents the lowest point in Liverpools history since the 1960s.

There has been no public statements by Henry or Werner since the phone in, and i know that people here say that it's when you hear nothing, you know that something is happening, but by f*** it's frustrating as a fan.

If it makes you feel any better, the Sox just traded for Adrian Gonzalez about a month ago. The deal was done in terms of agreement between the Red Sox and Padres about 2 days prior to any media speculation, and generally this stuff leaks quickly.

Three days later, the Sox signed Carl Crawford. The only reports that mentioned the Red Sox and Carl Crawford prior to that were that the Sox were not in the running and had no interest in him.

Henry likes to play his cards extremely close to his chest so as to not let it affect the day to day operations or get involved in any bidding wars. He's gotten burned quite a bit by letting things get public too quickly, so don't get too discouraged.

Yeah i knew about that, i've actually been using those two purchases as an example when trying to re-assure my friends about the situation.

I'm not sure what Liverpool fans are expecting. This team is not very good this year, switching the manager may help but it isn't likely to work miracles. I'm not sure why all these Liverpool fans are so concerned with getting rid of Hodgson when there are probably more pressing concerns, like a striker that can score goals this season. Or a defender, since it looks like Agger's on his way out.

we have a striker who scores goals, it's just that he doesn't want to play well under the manager and his s*** long ball tactics, his negative football. Agger back from injury played on Saturday with Aurelio also in the defensive line up, the team looked like they were a unit, playing nice football, they won that game against Bolton, Wednesday night past and Hodgson takes Agger and Aurelio out of the line up and replaces them with that useless prick he signed Konchesky and also Skrtel, the team play s*** again and lose 3-1, with Steven Gerrard allegedly deliberately missing a penalty.

Agger needs to be playing regular football as he is world class, Hodgson is blind to this fact and does things like complain to the media about Agger's injuries. One of many many reasons why Hodgson needs to leave.

I didn't see the penalty (a favorite line of Wenger's), but I really doubt that players intentionally miss penalties regardless of how much they hate the manager. If Agger had just come back from an injury, it makes a lot of sense not to play him twice in 5 days. I heard that Agger wanted to leave, but it could just be rumormongering.

It also sounds like they're lining up Coyle to replace Hodgson, and the only reason it's taken so long was because their first two choices for manager spurned them. It makes sense that they would take their time picking a new manager - it's unlikely that they're in CL contention, so they might as well get the right guy in instead of rashly finding a random manager to put in. The Sox are (in my opinion) the best run organization in the MLB for a reason - they don't make impulse moves, they're willing to make the decisions they think are right regardless of fan criticism.

And I've heard that Liverpool do need a strike partner for Torres. N'Gog isn't very good and I've never been sure what Kuyt does besides running around (I mean, he's very good defensively with his work rate and all, but I'm just not sure what he contributes offensively). Think that someone that could play a role on the wing and cut inside would be very effective, like the role that Villa played with Torres during the World Cup - even if Torres can't find the back of the net, he would create space for his strike partner to move in. Maybe someone like Ashley Young. Although it would create a problem since Liverpool don't have good LBs to create width should the left winger cut in and function as a second striker.

This is very good for Liverpool Football Club. Kenny is back so I expect there to be some real passion and commitment. He won't put up with the antics of sulky premadonnas either. We're back on track ......... yipppeeeee.

well these guys have put their money where their mouth is, and are not afraid to spend, at 11pm GMT our transfer window closes (your hot stove). We signed that Uraguayan on Friday for ?22 million to partner Fernando Torres up front, then out of the blue Torres hands in a transfer request as Chelsea are offering ?50 million, Liverpool accepted it. Today Liverpool made a bid for a young player called Andy Carroll for ?35 million (who knows how that will pan out) and that looks to be a done deal. And they said they did not expect to do much business in this window.

Wait, so they're spending big money on Liverpool? That money would have been better spent on Cliff Lee!

Just kidding.

let me see if i remember correctly, he went to the Phillies and not to the Yankees?

Don't expect the NESV group to spend $ just to spend $, especially to appease fans. They will horde their chips and use them when the right player comes along at the right price. This drives some Red Sox fans nuts because it can lead to "bridge type" seasons. But in the long run it is a better way of building a team.

Yeah don't get me wrong, i don't expect them to spend millions of thier own dollers on players for our club. With the two clowns who previously ran our club gone, there is not much debt on the club at all now, so we can actually fund players with the money the club generates. Hopefully, NESV will pump most of the money the club generates back into the club, and not into their back pockets. January was a good sign though, we sold Torres for a record fee of ?50 million, and spent a big chunk of that in buying Andy Carroll on the same day.

Although i wouldn't mind him giving us a little kick start in the summer and he buys us a few wingers and a new left back. We really need them! :D

They will put $ into the team. Not every sent though. They're good business men. They do want to make $. But they wouldn't have bought the team unless they thought they could do so. If the team is near the top in revenue, then I would expect them to be one of the bigger spenders in the division. If they are in the middle, expect them to be in the middle spending wise. So on and so forth.

As a fan of a franchise that had been trying to win the Championship forever, I could not be happier with this ownership group. I would actually be really upset and worried if they all the sudden left and sold the team. You should be excited this ownership group is at the helm of your team. But I can see why your a skeptic because of the last ownership group. But they where s*** in baseball as well.

The ownership knows that to generate the revenue the team will need to win. SO they will put competitive clubs on the pitch. They will give the franchise the chance to win. But in the end the players and coaching staff still have to perform. The Sox season results of gone like this so far, 2003- 1 game from the Championship series. 2004- Won the Championship. 2005- In the playoffs(I am of the belief this is really all you can honestly hope for year after year, in the playoffs and a chance to win the championship). 2006- Missed the Playoffs. 2007- Won the Championship. 2008-2009- In the playoffs. 2010- Missed the playoffs. And after going 80+ years with nothing, I am perfectly happy with this. Of course I want them to win every year. But I am reasonable enough to know that it is improbable to accomplish this.
