  1. when they took over in Boston, what was spent on new players? This might not be the right section for this topic as i'm one of them there Liverpool football fans. Our football season is nearly over and the transfer window will soon be opening for players to be bought and sold. Of course the media rumour mill is working overtime and we are being linked with all sorts of expensive players. I just want to know if they were thrifty with the chequebook or did they splash the cash?
  2. Just have a look through some of the threads in this forum from last October, us Liverpool fans invaded this message board when it was first made known that FSG were looking to buy our club. The members here were very helpful and made us feel at ease and rested our fears about the new owners.
  3. Letter from John and Tom to the Spirit of Shankly supporters group.
  4. yesterdays business only cost us a million, aint no thang. Very happy with the owners, if that had have been Hicks and Gillett, that 50 million would be in their bank accounts.
  5. let me see if i remember correctly, he went to the Phillies and not to the Yankees?
  6. well these guys have put their money where their mouth is, and are not afraid to spend, at 11pm GMT our transfer window closes (your hot stove). We signed that Uraguayan on Friday for ?22 million to partner Fernando Torres up front, then out of the blue Torres hands in a transfer request as Chelsea are offering ?50 million, Liverpool accepted it. Today Liverpool made a bid for a young player called Andy Carroll for ?35 million (who knows how that will pan out) and that looks to be a done deal. And they said they did not expect to do much business in this window.
  7. The dressing room chat will go as follows: Anyone here who wants to be a Liverpool player stay seated, anyone who doesn't care anymore, get the f*** out:lol:
  8. King Kenny in for the rest of the season. Thank you John and Tom for ending the agony.
  9. can any of you sign up to this forum and re-assure these people est1892.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=71434&page=235 lol
  10. Yeah i knew about that, i've actually been using those two purchases as an example when trying to re-assure my friends about the situation.
  11. John Henry and Tom Werner took part in a live phone in with Liverpool fans a few weeks before Christmas. Up until that event, the team had been having bad results which are attributed to our manager and his tactice. Henry stated then that the results were unacceptable and had to improve. Fast forward to present day and nothing has improved, the fans are at breaking point with the manager/coach. Saturdays attendance at Anfield was down by 10,000, and last nights game at Blackburn (which we lost) attendance was down amongst the travelling Liverpool fans. This period represents the lowest point in Liverpools history since the 1960s. There has been no public statements by Henry or Werner since the phone in, and i know that people here say that it's when you hear nothing, you know that something is happening, but by f*** it's frustrating as a fan. Thanks for reading, have some Beltre head rub gifs bosoxgifs.imgur.com/beltre_head_rubs/1 Copy and paste that link as i can't post full links yet.
  12. Yeah i'm getting the impression that if they say nothing it is usually a good thing. It was a surprise when they announced Damian Comolli as Director of Football after they took over the team. That dude eats sleeps and breathes Sabremetrics. Pardon me for asking another question, but are most people not happy about the Sox most recent signings?
  13. Liverpool fan making a bit of an invasion if you people don't mind, when i heard about these signings and the massive amounts of money involved, it has been encouraging as hopefully Henry and co will splash some cash for Liverpool players when our transfer window opens in January. They said pretty early on that they will not be making big money signings in the winter and will be doing their business in the summer, but reading NESN they seem to have their eye on a number of players for next month. Again sorry for interrupting the baseball talk.
  14. This is pretty common in baseball to have free admission for certain groups, it's a nice touch and a good move by our new American overlords.
  15. Also there were a few people wearing Red Sox merchandise at Anfield today.
  16. I tweeted that to JH, wonder what he will think of it. But yeah she does seem to have a good effect on the teams performance when she is present.
  17. What a pair of greedy no-class snake like ****s that pair hicks and Gillett are. Hateful bastards. The f***ing irony of these two describing the court case as an 'epic swindle'!!! f*** i am pissed off.
  18. ?3000 an hour, not very cheap.
  19. Another Liverpool fan signing on. I watched the thread yesterday morning in other Sports and didn't join up then because of all the trolls that came to bash Liverpool, things seem to have calmed down now so i have joined up. Having lived in Pittsburgh a few years ago i was already familiar with the way things were turned around for the Sox in 2004 (have you all forgiven Jonny Damon yet). I had just returned to Ireland that year from the US and was so happy to see the World Series being won by the Sox, i knew what it meant to everyone in your city. As i say i lived in Pittsburgh so as far as NFL goes, I'm firmly in the Steeler camp. The baseball team absolutely suck there, been to see them a few times and the best thing about the experience was seeing the stadium. Was in New York in 2007 and went to see the Yankees at Yankee Stadium, i felt dirty the whole time but i will admit to buying a Yankees t-shirt with the name 'Gehrig' on the back, mainly because Lou Gehrig was the Iron Horse of baseball and i admired the way he was always available to play. Was in NYC this summer too but didn't go to Mordor, just passed it on the 4 train up to Woodlawn. Anyway, i'm a lifelong Liverpool FC fan, and like most of the other pool fans on here i am just anxious about the future of the club that i love. When i heard that the Red Sox owners had agreed to buy the club i was positive as i remembered that they returned the Sox to winning ways and ended the 'Curse of the Bambino'. So hopefully the sale goes through and it's a done deal. Once it is complete i think a Red Sox jersey and a trip to Fenway will be in order.
