Can you give us an idea' date=' statistically, of how good you want that position player to be?[/quote']

I would, but I have no idea of how good I want the player to be statistically. I'm very fickle about these things

Miguel Cabrera, Brandon Phillips, Elvis Andrus somewhat

But a trade for Cabrera would have to involve Carpenter in some way, because otherwise it would be suicide to my payroll

Can I add in picks for Gallardo?

Hmm, OK. Those aren't the easiest standards to work with lol. For what it's worth, I definitely have interest in Gallardo and maybe Carpenter.

oh' date=' and I am interested in Oswalt and Billingsley.[/quote']

I think we can work something out.

Wait...don't you have the most stacked rotation in the whole thing?

Possibly' date=' but an Andrus for Gallardo base is unrealistic[/quote']

I mean it could be

You get:

Cabrera

picks

I get:

Carpenter

Gallardo

later picks

Haha well that's a matter of opinion, but thanks lol. Despite the current state of my rotation, you can never have enough pitching, and I'm always willing to explore the acquisition of a front-line starter.

Trading two pitchers would leave me with only two pitchers, so I would have to acquire another pitcher as part of the deal

I don't want to go under 3 pitchers as part of the deal, because all the other star pitchers I was targeting are now gone

the only pitcher I have is Timmy Lincecum and I wouldn't move him in this deal.

In that case, I guess I can only move one pitcher

I could do something along the lines of

Carpenter

pick coming soon

for

Cabrera

later pick

Wait...there's no trading of future draft picks? Why not? That's the only way to settle a trade with significant talent differences

Keep in mind that one can't trade draft picks. You can trade the players drafted with those picks (ie trade draft rights)' date=' but you can't trade the draft picks themselves.[/quote']

All the redrafts I've been in you could trade picks.

The corresponding salaries should be enough of a balance. Besides, if you really want to trade picks, you could have the other person tell you which player to pick at that situation and then trade those players. The only difference is that you'd have to trust the other person not to screw you over and back out of the deal if someone was taken in the interim.

Bulls***, we weren't able to trade draft picks in any of the last 3 drafts we did, and you were in all of them. Heck, this is the only redraft we've done (that I've been a part of) where we could trade during the middle of the redraft and not have to wait until the end.

i can give cabrera

Oswalt for Cabrera interests me. Keeper, no discussing trades in progress please.

As for trading draft picks, i'm putting my foot down in this one. It ain't happening.

I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes here, but why are you guys (Ital and Dipre) opposed to trading draft picks? As long as the draft picks being exchanged are equal (1 for 1, 2 for 2, etc) and the deal is clearly outlined and recorded, I don't see a downside.
Posted
I'm opposed because it is an absolute and utter pain in the ass to manage. We opened the trade window, but adding draft picks on top of that would result in chaos.

If I feel a trade is not equal value, I should be allowed to voice my opinion. Same goes for anyone else.

On another note, don't be a d*** to anyone and try and f*** up their trades. If the trade doesn't involve you, then don't get involved in it.

On the other side of the coin, if you really want people to stay out of it, then communicate/negotiate the trades via PM and then post here once you've agreed upon a deal.

The trades involve all of us, in one way or another. We should all be able to weigh in on these things, put in our two cents. It's not sabotage. It's discussion.

As is the case with the money, I think the difficulty of managing traded draft picks is being overstated. Simple organization and attention should be sufficient to effectively manage the situation. However, I'm not the one in charge of dealing with this (although I do offer my help), so I think we should just respect the decision of Ital and Dipre.
