I like the idea of Forsyth's idea. I mean I like the concept but not necessarily the implementation of the idea itself. I really don't care though. I think that the basis will be covered when everyone writes up an explanation defending their team.

We're not purely basing the votes on this, but it would be extremely beneficial to have something as a frame of reference, so that voters have a solid knowledge of how players are doing right now.

Without up to date stats, there is a high likelihood of participants using historical stats as a frame of reference rather than current year stats, i.e. Youk vs Chase Headley. If Chase Headley is hitting .374 with 6 HR in our first month, and Youk is hitting .305 with 4 HR, people will still sway their votes because Headley may go unnoticed as he plays for a west coast middle of the pack team. While Youk is going to get partial treatment because he plays for the team that we all watch every night.

All it's doing is making information available. It's not a ranking system, but it is giving information to the participants.

I don't know, I feel like it would have to be like 1/4 of a season to 1/2 of a season for me to change my judgment of players purely based on how they're playing. Although some players sustain their breakout production over a season (Andres Torres and Jose Bautista come to mind), a lot of others tail off (like Nelson Cruz and Raul Ibanez).

Of course, improved or decreased production would sway my opinion somewhat, but I try not to give it too much weight.

If I understand this exercise correctly, outside of the preliminary power rankings, past success means nothing. As an example, if JJ Hardy outperforms every other SS over the first month of the season, he should be considered the best SS when we do our April power rankings.

Ital or Dipre, if I'm wrong, please correct me.

I think that's correct. It'll be hard not to factor in past success, especially for abnormally hot/cold months, but I think we'd just include the first month. But for the following months we'd keep doing the season up to date. Similarly, when you use the stats, you'd explain your gameplan and set your lineups accordingly. I haven't spoken with Dipre about it, but if he feels differently I'm sure he will say something.

Dipre basically wants everyone to update their own stats. He isn't against a spreadsheet, but he wants to keep everyone involved and interested, and it'll give everyone a chance to defend their team and provide perspective that wasn't there for these power rankings. Maybe we can compile stats in the clubhouse thread or something, but each person should be responsible for highlighting their own stats. This of course, will be in addition to the write up explaining their thought process and why they have a good team.

This is what I was trying to say, but maybe I'm not being very articulate today.

I'm not about to go look up the stats for every single player drafted, but I'm going to look up the stats for each player on my team, and then when everyone else has their stats together, you can just pop open one excel sheet and click on a different tab for each team.

I just think it would be easier than having to open 15 or 16 different excel sheets just to do the rankings, especially for those of us who don't have dual monitors.

As far as the stats go, I was under the impression that this was a "Who has the best team right now?", and as such, drafted my team with players who could potentially have break out seasons. If we were using historical stats, I would assume that Desmond Jennings, Dominic Brown, Jeremy Hellickson, etc would not be drafted as they are rookies.

If we wanted to consolidate everyone's stats, a google doc might be easier for this...but I'm not sure if everyone has a Google account, or whatever you need to use it.

Nice try, I didn't say anything about you beating me in the hot girl redraft. I doubt that I'd win it (because I'd most assuredly take Erin Andrews with my first pick) but I don't see you winning it either. It'll probably go to some crazed sex pervert like YOTN.

Now that I think about it, I don't really know who'd win. I'm doubting YOTN as a favourite do to his obsession with that transexual from Star Trek, you know, Nicole de Boer. ;)

Although RSFFL, that redraft might give you a better chance of winning than any of the other ones haha. If it'll make you feel better I might put you in my top 5 list of likelihood to win.

I'm being facetious. I don't think that Erin Andrews is the hottest woman in the world. She's just the one that I mentally undress the most. I eye-hump the crap out of her.

You don't have the peep video of her walking around her hotel room naked? ;)

I've seen it so many times that I got carpal tunnel syndrome. Believe me, I've seen it and downloaded it. I don't think that I slept that night.

I imagine Kim would be' date=' she's the most attractive one.[/quote']

Kourtney Kardashian would like to say hello sir. I guess your definition of "attractive" is having a nice body. Kourtney has the better face. Kim is fine but so overrated.

HAHAHA choke on that RSFFL ;)

That's alright, I still lead in votes and she's better than Erin Andrews so in the end I get the last laugh. ;)

Since when? I know that Dipre, Divinity and myself like Kim better, and you, bsox, and Exman like Kourtney better.
