I thought this would b a good discussion. is anybody scared of this team at all anymore? carl crawford (who was an annoying prick on rays lol) is now on boston and pena is in chicago, that accounts for a huge bit of their offense. not only that but benoit is on tigers i believe now.. assuming we stay healthy do sox got at least wild card locked up?

I wouldnt assume anything. The Rays are still have some good players as in Longo and Price. Wade Davis is still in Tampa.

 

Their Lineup has definitely taken a huge hit. But their Starting Rotation is still good.

Nothing's ever locked up, but they're definitely going to be able to hold their own with the Yankees.

This is probably their biggest loss. Assuming that they keep their rotation intact.

 

I don't mean to minimize the loss of Crawford at all. Nor Bartlett. But it always seems that the Rays have a stream of good young players coming up. I don't know the names of the players that will be filling the holes at LF a SS. Is Jennings the guy targeted for LF? And the SS replacement has already played MLB. Whatever.

 

They will probably win 66-80 games if they fill the holes. They've lost some big pieces to be sure, but they have established a winning culture and have good coaching and a good manager.

I think they finish over .500. Jennings and Brignac are very promising players and if they hold on to Garza their rotation is still quite good. Bullpen certainly is taking a hit, but the offseason also is still young.

They're picking up, what, 6-7 first/supplemental picks? They'll reload through their youngins, if not now, then in a season or two. Price/Davis/Hellickson will be scary-good, its just a matter of them making other moves to fill in holes.

I don't think they will be the Rays of the last couple years, but they won't be push overs either. They have a lot fo young arms coming up to fill in. Jennings is said to be Crawford 2.0 and Brignac is no slouch jumping to replace Barnett. 1B I'm not sure of. Their BP could be an issue but they could let the kids learn on the job or go dumpster diving. I think 3rd place will be a dead heat between Toronto and TB. I expect them both around 85 wins.

Jennings and Brignac look to be good players eventually but they will be rookies and haven't exactly established themselves in the majors.

 

Their lineup was pretty poor before and now they've lost their (arguably) best player to their division rivals plus Pena. Then in the bullpen they lost two absolutely dominant MRs who pitched 60 innings each and had ERAs under 2.

 

They win under 90 games based on losing just Crawford alone, the rest of the players lost will compound to probably make them a .500 team I'd say.

Kind of sad how they had to dismantle their team. Their only real strength now is their rotation, and it looks like they may trade Garza.
