I think Hughes might have gassed himself in the first inning, which isn’t uncommon for a young starting pitcher. He was really throwing his FB well in the first, touching 95 when he was in trouble. But it hasn’t been the same in the last couple innings, and that could probably be traced back to the first.

It’s probably much easier to pace yourself in a regular season game, when there’s much less on the line. But once Hughes got in trouble in the first, he really seemed to let it loose, and it may have been what cost him here.

And Girardi f***ing left him out there to die. That was the deathblow. We had no margin for error, and our f***ing retard manager left him out there. Girardi is the worst manager in baseball and we win despite his f***ing ridiculousness.

The game calling is on the organization in my opinion. Cervelli isn't any better, and neither was Molina last year. As for the stolen bases, Posada has a poor arm, but that's more on the pitchers than anything. There isn't one guy on this staff (the league has caught up to Pettitte a bit) that holds runners on well. Posada rarely has a chance.

But I agree, Posada has his issues.

But he had a brain fart on the double steal. He should've put that ball in his pocket.

I have no clue what would give them any hope that Hughes would have a good fifth inning.

Absolutely, huge mistake. High School catchers make the right decision in that spot...

Well there's your awful pitch selection Jacko. 1-2 count, and they call for something in the strike zone (especially considering what his slider is like today)...

We've really seen Cano mature a tremendous amount over the last couple years. Two or three years ago, his demeanor would be completely different after that HR. Now he just seems to be all about the team.

What sucks is if Joe didn't make the mistake of leaving in Hughes' date=' they would only be staring at a three run deficit.[/quote']If the Yanks lose this game, it will be a gift from Girardi and Posada.

Eh, they both made some mistakes, but they're still losing 7-2. If the final score is similar to the current score, I don't agree that they gifted this game to the Rangers. The Rangers simply outplayed them.
