You know, there is an interesting possibility if you think back to the Yankees/Lee trade rumors in July that they were just talking about. The chances that Lee does sign for something a bit less than the Yankee offer are probably increased if he goes on to win it all in Texas. The whole comraderie, chemistry, and liking where he is angle gets magnified if you walk through fire together. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

That's the 5% in my eyes. And he is from the south (Arkansas IIRC). Some Yankee fan sites already have a photoshopped Lee in a Yankee hat. I'd wait until the ink is dry. We will offer the biggest contract, I can guarantee that. And 95% of the time, that gets the job done.

And with the new ownership group and the new television contract, Texas will be able to make a reasonable offer. It likely won't match the Yankees' offer, but it might be enough for the reasons you mentioned.

Oh, so you have Texas winning this series....and the World Series?

I don't think you do, so your 5% doesn't account for what I'm talking about. My point is that there is a good chance that x%, which is really just an arbitrary guess, and even if it weren't, it wouldn't be a hard number because everyone is different, increases in magnitude with a Texas win.

The thing that he wont match is the sponsorship jobs. CC was the big ticket signing and his face is everywhere. I doubt that happens if he stays in Arlington

Texas is football country, but the other sports market very well here. There would be no shortage of opportunity for him.

Nope' date=' not at all. Lee got him into swing mode then forced him to expand his zone[/quote']

Is anyone "charting" these comments?

The Yankees need to be shrewd with their final offer, IMO. While it's undeniable that they will offer more than anyone else, and I think everyone agrees that they'll pay whatever it takes to get him, I'm sure they have a desire to go as low as possible on the "over". They need to accurately gauge his interest in staying put, because if the "over" is too light, he could stay.

I'd rather we go over in cash and not over in years. He turns 33 next season, and the last thing I want to see is another $22 million dollar 39 yr old

I find that a bit odd. Usually when it comes to playoffs a lot of Yankees fans like to come out from under the rock...

Yeah especially the ones that have that false sense of entitlement...Lee gives up a hit....time to start planning the parade.... ;)
