According to his LA Dodgers days he completley sucks.

Checked up his career stats. He's only had 1 season of 100 RBI's. Put him in the AL east he's lucky to drive in 80. Especially when you have weak hitting like our team does.

The last four years of complete health with the Phillies:

2007: .863 OPS

2008: .861 OPS

2009: .879 OPS

2010: .921 OPS

So what do i use as a benchmark were i to offer a contract? The years in which he was injured and wasn't a regular, or the last four years in which he's been healthy and raking?

Thank God you're not the GM of the Red Sox, because "The wonder boy" does a hell of a better job than you would, good sir.

I hear good things about Sons of Sam Horn. Have you been there? Maybe you should try it.

I noticed that in JimEd's thread, he doesn't have Atchison on the 25-man roster. Am i the only one who thinks he'd be serviceable as the final link in the bullpen?

Wheres the 100 RBI's though? He doesn't even hit 300. Show me where he is any better of a offensive player then even Jason Bay?

You watch CSNNE latley? Everyones saying the boy wonder has become a joke. Not just me. John Lackey? Mike Cameron? Who spends top coin on those guys? Especially when the farm is sooo amazing. Your telling me noone in the farm can hit 240-250 for around 7 million less then Cameron?

He'd get banned within a week, same with Soxprospects. I think he'll be fine on the ESPN boards though because they hardly ban anyone, EVER. And it's filled with people that are more around his skill level, if you know what I mean.

RBI? AVG?

If I was not concerned with getting banned, I would have placed an ironic "Fail" photo below.

Baseball for dummies, lesson 2:

RBI is an incomplete stat: Why? Because it's dependent on the amount of opportunities you get to drive runners in, which aren't many if you hit behind Chase Utley and Ryan Howard.

Better stat to know of a hitter's performance with men on base: Slash stats with men on base.

Werth stats with men on base:

RISP: .816 career OPS.

Men on base: .842 career OPS.

And this is including his injured years in LA.

You're getting better, actually trying to use stats to back up your arguments. I like the progress.

You guys break stats down way to much. You either hit 300 with 30 and 100 or you don't. Why should you get 5 years 80 mil for being a 2nd tier player? f*** OPS. Slugging. Just give me Manny or Jim Rice if possible.

The guys on CSNNE are probably around your level of skill in evaluating talent. And who is "everyone"? Talking in absolutes simply means you're pulling stuff out of your ass, which is unsurprising, given the way you've supported your opinions thus far.

Try again.

I guess. I just don't see where he is that big of a deal. Are you confident he can handle the AL? I mean this isn't AAAA teams like the NL offers. Your 5th starter isn't Oliver Perez or Nate Robertson or even the whole Nationals rotation. Start Facing Helickson or Wade Davis or Phil Hughes. Then bring me the NL OPS.

Mike Cameron is a career 250 on the head hitter. Another words he STINKS. Yet he gets 2 years and what 16 big ones? Thats ********. I hear bridge year non stopped. Where are these great prospects that will be here 2012. I would rather look at them then this guy and his suspect d in centerfield.

You moved your franchise CF to LF for basically a utility man and when Ellsbury tells the franchise to go f*** themselves everyone turns on him. Lets not forget Coco Crisp was choking like a dog in that ALCS in 2007. No Jacoby no duckboats quoting Mazz. Then 3 years later you move him to left for another Coco Crisp minus the range and ability to close the damn glove.

Argue this with OPS. Please.

Damn it, you're right! I mean it's not like a good hitter will hit anywhere. Well, there goes my interest in Hanley, Pujols and A-Gon.....thanks for clearing that up for me man!

There are exceptions for anything. Lets not compare Werth to a HOF'er in Pujols. Or a 300 35 100 hitter in PETCO. Hanley I think is a punk. And has some pretty awful brane lapses at SS.

You keep using batting average, which, like RBI's, is a piece of s*** stat. Cameron has always been an excellent CF with 25-homer power while playing in some of the worse and bigger parks in the Majors. They wanted to maximize the defensive potential of the OF, and put him in a situation on a ballpark where he could excel.

There are many reasons why you fundamentally can't understand simple concepts like this, of which i will list some:

1) Bias.

2) Idiocy.

3) Lack of knowledge about the statistics you're trying to criticize.

In fact, i'm willing to bet money you were one of the idiots who cried tears of blood when the Sox signed Beltre, and look how that turned out, and guess what, if healthy, Cameron may have provided similar career-year production, but you had your crystal ball which had told you with anticipation that Cameron was going to get injured.

Try again.

Oh, and by the way:

Mike Cameron 2005-2009 OPS and OPS+ aggregate total: .799 and 111, meaning he was not only the best CF in the market (Career 5.1 UZR/150, another stat you probably hate since you don't understand).

Again, thank God you don't work on the Red Sox FO.

By the time the Redsox signed Beltre, I could care less cause Cameron was on the team. I rooted against him from the start and enjoyed watching him fail. I honestly hate that guy. I have Mets fans in the family and they are huge fans unlike myself and they told me what a piece of s*** that guy is. So I rooted for him to regress worse then he usually does so I can watch and when he got hurt I began watching games again.

Rays are looking to move Bartlett:

Rays Moving Closer To Trading Bartlett

By Ben Nicholson-Smith [November 29, 2010 at 5:40pm CST]

The Rays are moving closer to trading Jason Bartlett, according to Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports. The reporters’ sources say the Dodgers’ deal with Juan Uribe accelerated trade talks. The Cardinals, Padres, Giants, Orioles and Pirates have all expressed interest in Bartlett, who is arbitration eligible for the third and final time this offseason.

The Rays appear to be looking for bullpen help in any trade involving Bartlett. If they do trade the 31-year-old, they’ll likely replace him with Reid Brignac, who played 50 games at short in 2010 and posted a higher OPS than Bartlett (.692 vs. .675).

Bartlett slumped to .254/.324/.350 in 2010 after an All-Star season in 2009, but his career line (.281/.345/.385) suggests he's capable of more offense. He earned $4MM in 2010 and will likely earn over $5MM through arbitration in 2011.

Here's a pretty useful chart I found that compares catcher defense in 2010. It looks semi-reliable.

Some notables.

1)Yadier Molina

2) Pudge

6) Torrealba

7) Red Sox target Rod Barajas

11) Mauer

20) Varitek

22) John Buck

25) Olivo

102) AJ Pier....

103)Bengie Molina

106) Suzuki

113)Napoli

114) VMart

117) Posada

119) Cervelli
