MLB Extra Innings is having mercy on my soul and giving me the choice of the home or away broadcast. The home broadcast is in HD but I'll watch the NESN broadcast because I'd rather listen to Joe Morgan, Jon Miller, Joe Buck and Tim McCarver over fk'n Hawk Harrelson, the ULTIMATE White Sox homer.

buchholz and lester both have an era under 3 for the time being. can anyone guess the last time an al team had 2 pitchers who threw at least 150 inning and had an era under 3?

i'll give you a clue but it won't make it any easier - that team actually had 3 pitchers who threw at least 150 innings with an era under 3

Considering how both the Yankees and Red Sox look right now' date=' the Yankees really are quite fortunate they won last night. The Sox are playing good baseball.[/quote']

isn't papelbon lovely? of course it didn't help that the home plate umpire called 6 pitches inside the strike zone balls

True, but too little too late. Poor timing etc etc......

I haven't been so disappointed in a Sox player in a long time. Not only his poor performance but his attitude about it is embarassing. The strike zone sucked last night but that happens and doesn't explain his 8 blown saves or his bloated ERA of late. Thanks for 2007. Man up Paps. See ya....

Of course he also called four balls strikes.

The Sox have the potential to end this season with less than ten fewer wins than NY or TB. Considering they had a terrible April, played an entire season without Ellsbury and Cameron, lost Pedroia for several months and Youk for almost 2, got a subpar season from JD Drew and Papelbon, and played several weeks with a rotating assortment of untrained chimps and lethargic toddlers at the catching position, I'd say that the season hasn't been entirely bad. If this had happened to, say, the Twins or the Rangers, they'd probably have been nuked from orbit by now.
