find the quote where Hal specifically said that he only had 2 mil to play with. Seriously, you're making s*** up again. The Yankees never viewed Damon as a possibility for the OF this yr. His defense degenerated to a point of absurdity in 2009 and he was being viewed as a DH only in 2010. The Yankees offered him a 1yr $7mil deal and he rejected it, asking for a 2 yr deal. Boras specifically said that the Yankees werent going to find a #2 hitter for less than what he was offering. So they went out and signed Johnson for 2 mil less. Getting Granderson wasnt the last straw for Damon signing. Getting Johnson was. The Winn signing was as insurance for Gardner. It was pretty obvious that the Yankees were giving the kid all the chances in the world to claim a starting spot and he has been well worth that faith this yr

making s*** up is when you said that ranaudo wouldn't sign with the red sox based on a source you wouldn't disclose

what i'm talking about actually happened and there were multiple sources from outside the organization and cashman himself saying that he was restricted in his persuit of damon by hal steinbrenner's budget

it's obvious that cashman really wanted damon when you consider how furious he got with boras for not caving on his contract demands

Even with the rotation problems, the post season is setting up as a cake walk for the Yankees. The Rangers and Twins have historically been post-season patsies for the Yanks, and I don't think the Rays will be able to stop them if the Rays get to the ALCS. The thought of back to back championships is completely repugnant to me. I will, however, try to make the best of a terrible situation. Last season, my gambling winnings went to buy my new Samsung HDTV. I need to set a goal this year.

I don't think we can use the 1998 and 1999 Rangers to predict how the 2010 Rangers do. The Twins, maybe. I still think the Yankees make the ALCS at least, but still.

How many players do the two teams have in common? And if we really are going to look at a team from over a decade ago to determine this year's playoff result, I'll throw out the fact that in those two years combined, the Rangers didn't have any starting pitcher with an ERA under 4.2 or a WHIP under 1.3.

You take the wrong parts of my posts too literally. You seize on the hyperbole as a point of debate. The hyperbole (calling the Rangers "post-season patsies" is just the way I chose to express myself). The important part of that post is the Yankees are set up for a cake walk in the post season. If you want, let's debate the main point. The smart money is on the Yanks going all the way. When you can't beat'em, make money on them.

As good as the Yankees are historically against the Rangers, I would love to play the Twins in the ALDs, the Yankees have played them a million times in the last couple of years in the postseason and won every time with ease, the Rangers have a scary lineup and a scary 1-2 in the rotation

I've seen that show too many times and the ending never changes. The Twins lead going to the late innings and Gardenhire makes every wrong bullpen and other late game decision to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. The Twins series will win me some sweet money. It's a lock.
