Buck and McCarver never mentioned it' date=' although I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't know what they were talking about.[/quote']

Funny thing is, they mentioned it earlier, but then ignored it this inning.

Goose Gossage to start.

Can't agree with that, Gossage threw way more fastballs than anything else, and there was a reason for it. Bruce Sutter is a better comparable, but I'll take Valverde.

I can name a few easily. Smoltz' date=' Clemens and don't forget Schill.[/quote']

It's just a matter of opinion, as we really don't have any concrete evidence to back our claims. I've seen all those guys pitch, and while they certainly have excellent splitters, I prefer Valverde's with all his late movement and deception. With that being said, you can't go wrong with any of them.

Poor use of the bench and poor pitching by the Yankees. It was enough to give you a heart attack!

Joe Girardi should be fired in the morning, do it for George!!!!!!!!111

I'm sure fangraphs might have something, although I'm not sure how far back their records go.

Crap dude, that's who I was thinking of. I was thinking of Bruce Sutter the entire time. I also wanted to say Schilling, but I figured that I was biased.

Also, did anyone else notice that at the beginning of the game, when they were showing clips of people talking about Steinbrenner, that Girardi had braces?

Considering that Tampa/New York have a pretty good chance of going to the WS' date=' I'm kind of glad the NL has an advantage.[/quote']

I still believe that the... Red Sox... do as well.

Taboo thinking, I know.

Yeah, I mentioned Sutter because I figured there was a good chance you meant him.

And yeah, Girardi has had braces for awhile now. Kind of strange for someone of his age.
