In my opinion, it's not a good idea, since closing is different than regular relief. Now, if they have had setup experience, that's a different story.

 

I'd personally judge against it.

What is the view on using Closers in setup and middle relief roles?

 

I think closers in setup roles works well, because it is a similar, 1 inning shutdown role and I think set up is a less stressful situation than closing. But people can feel free to judge as they like. Closers are often the best relievers on their respective teams so I personally am up for it.

 

I don't like closers in MR works well though, because that often involves a lot of outings lasting longer than an inning

Some have established themselves towards the top, others are in the middle, and some are at the bottom (at least in my opinion). For those that haven't already, you should update your current rosters in the Redraft Clubhouse.
