Hey all, cleaning up here while listening to the broadcast online. Can't believe I'm "blacked out" again.

Just wanted to note the strong starts from Wakefield and Lester sandwiched in between the Bullpen's work yesterday. These guys look like a "team" in the old-fashioned sense of the word.

Lol, so now when they hit good pitching it's because the pitcher had something wrong with him. Predictable.

Seriously. How many good pitchers do we have to rough up before people will believe that we are actually a good hitting team. Dipre can provide the definitive list, but there's hardly an elite pitcher in the bigs that we haven't whomped this year.

Yeah. What was wrong with Lincecum was that he facing a disciplined team than wouldn't go out of the strikezone. Lot's of check swings and long counts. He threw almost 80 pitches in 3 innings. His fastball early was mid-90's, late it was high 80's.

Give the Sox some credit for making him work hard.

Sox have faced 9 Cy Young winners this year (CC three times), and are 5-1.

The best part is Lester's rediscovered efficiency. He used, what, 103 pitches for a CG? The last few outings, if I'm recalling correctly from memory, he's pitched pretty well but had trouble getting to the later innings because of pitch count. Today, he just hosed the Giants from the get-go, and efficiently, too. Excellent stuff.

So......this Lester kid's pretty good.

And not bad for a team that can't hit. The Sox rank first in almost every offensive category and second on HR's.

Oh, and Beltre keeps hitting like his mother's life depended on it.

Maybe he wasnt hurt. Maybe he just didnt have it. Regardless, the guy is an ace who throws mid 90s and he hardly broke 90mph today. So, something was up

His average fastball velocity this year is 91.3.

In all fairness, management has been trying to get him to focus less on having a mid 90's fastball in order to protect him from blowing out his arm in a few seasons. He used to throw mid-high 90's all the time, but the FO is encouraging him to be more cautious. I don't know when he made the change, but that would explain your statistic.

Lincecum had absolutely nothing. FB under 90mph' date=' couldnt locate s***. I think he's hurt. Funny how luck balances out. The sox have a ton of injuries, but see Jimenez when he's sick and Lincecum when he is hurt[/quote']

Or the Red Sox are just good. At hitting.

although being good at hitting just got tougher going forward for the Pedroia (and possibly) Victor Martinez-less Red Sox.
