Notes from Fenway: Nava is starting

Daniel Nava has been called up and is starting in left field hitting ninth today. Nava, a switch-hitter, was hitting .294 with 8 homers and 38 RBI at Pawtucket.

Do I dare start Dice K in my fantasy league?

From The Globe:

Matsuzaka mania: Matsuzaka no-hit the Phillies for 7.2 innings on May 22 in Philadelphia. Counting that game, he is 3-1 with a 1.98 ERA in his last four starts.

Yeah, I'm aware of his game vs Philly last time out. I had him benched.

I wonder if lightning will strike twice.

I was mainly talking about:

Counting that game, he is 3-1 with a 1.98 ERA in his last four starts.

The Phillies can't hit anything right now, and Dice-k has been rolling. Obviously, this is Dice-k, and it all really depends on whether he feels like it.

Daniel Nava? I should really pay more attention to the Minor Leagues. I've never even HEARD of this guy.

Sounds like a Pedroia kind of guy, in a way. No one ever took him seriously because he's dinky. All he ever did was pound the ball. But he's dinky, so the numbers don't count.

He's got like a .960 OPS in his Red Sox minor league career. Nine frickin' sixty.

I'd love to see him kill the ball tonight. Also, he's playing LF so I hope he's wearing a flak jacket. Gotta protect those ribs, you know.

From The Globe:

Surprising turn of events prior to today's game. Daisuke Matsuzaka has gone on the 15-day disabled list with a right forearm strain. Matsuzaka informed the team of his discomfort while he was warming up in the Sox bullpen before the game.

Replacing him for today's game is Scott Atchison. The Sox have also recalled lefty reliever Dustin Richardson from Pawtucket.
