2 games back of NYY now, 2 games out of the wild card (not coincidentally), and ready to slash through a dozen games against the lesser lights of the AL. Excellent!

Course not. Let it never be said that I can't adjust to reality. Beltre's really turned it around.

The real turning point for Beltre's offense so far has been home production. His road OPS has always hovered around .820, but his home OPS has always been around .740 (except 2004) so this year, he's around his customary road OPS, but has an .821 home OPS, that, coupled with a very different approach at the plate (not trying to pull everything) has yielded early dividends for him. And, of course, he's not a statue at third.

The REDSOX kicked the s*** out of the Devils Rays this series' date=' Way to go REDSOX![/quote']

Why do you say REDSOX in all of your posts?

I hope all the Beltre haters enjoy eating crow' date=' there's plenty to go around and will keep coming all season long.[/quote']

I love this post and want to take it out to dinner.

A few things:

When Beltre's 2nd HR was reported on the scoreboard at CitiField, Bay was seen hanging his head in shame.

Beltre's power surge was so awesome that it knocked out the power in half my neighborhood. I returned to a dark house and I am posting on a s***** Blackberry.

The radio did report that a smashed banjo was found outside of the Red Sox locker room with a note that simply said: "I am done with this"

Lastly, during Beltre's last AB on Tuesday night, I posted in the GT that it was about time for the banjo hitter to go deep. As the Old Professor Casey Stengal used to say: "you can look it up." Tonight: Two HRs and a Triple.

I remain TalkSox great sage seer and soothsayer. Lol!!

Then why do you keep saying devil rays?:D

Because they will always be the DRs in my book. I do not care for them at all. They sucked as the DRs and they still suck.:o

Red Sox have lineup issues tonight

Posted by Peter Abraham, Globe Staff May 26, 2010 12:50 PM

Terry Francona did his gig on WEEI today and revealed a few interesting things:

* Victor Martinez is not yet ready to start.

* Jacoby Ellsbury will be out again.

* J.D. Drew is not feeling well and won't play.

Meanwhile, the Rays are starting Matt Garza (5-2, 2.37) tonight. Yikes.

Wow. It turned out to be YIKES for Matt 'the Lizard' Garza . BOO YA.

Is anyone else concnerned about Lackey? We're now two months into the season, he's still struggling and there's nothing about his numbers that suggest he's been unlucky or has pitched better than his 1.60 WHIP suggests.

The Rays are now 13-10 at the Trop while the Sox are 13-10 away from Fenway. Who should have the better record?? 19-5 on the road. SOx at home 14-11.

The Yankees are gonna go on a run again. They have their first true run through fluff coming up.

The Red Sox and Yankees are playing like complete opposites right now. With the Red Sox playing well and getting an even "fluffier" part of the schedule coming up with 14 games against Kansas City, Cleveland, Baltimore and Oakland, it won't be all that surprising if the Red Sox lead the wild card by a few games come June 11th.

The Red Sox are finally hitting their stride and the Yankees are finally coming back down to earth. It looks like another back-and-forth year for these two teams.

After todays game, the Yankees will play 1 WS contender between now and the ASB (Philly for 3), 2 if you count the LAD. I have a feeling they will be fine. Their only trist through the AL Central thus far has been 2 rounds with Minny, 1 round with the CWS and 1 round with DET. We havent seen Cleveland or KC yet. And in the ALW, we havent seen Seattle yet. And in the ALE, we havent seen Toronto yet. Have a feeling those games are going to be the difference this yr. I truly and honestly believe that the Yankee club is going to eventually run away from the sox IN THE REGULAR SEASON. If the sox figure out their rotation and the Rays fall from grace (which they might do depending on how their O comes together and if their pitching cannot continue their ridiculous run) then the sox are every bit as dangerous when the postseason comes around

Thank god for y228.

The homerism that blows out of Jacko is sometimes enough to make Michael Kay blush.

Listen, the Red Sox get to play soft teams and go on a run too. And they've actually started a run against very good teams.

If the sox figure out their rotation

I think they have. It could possibly get better with a return of Beckett to more effectiveness and health of course. And Lackey needs to trend up. But really, this Sox rotation is starting to get really good.

*Yawn*

The Sox have every bit as easy a schedule in the following days. Baseball is played in the field, not in your mouth (or keyboard in this case).

Funny you didn't come out making homer remarks like this during the couple of days the Yankees were sucking ass and the Sox were beating WS contenders. Par for the course.

He was responding to someone who was using the Sox' schedule as a reason to favor their position over the Yankees. You took his remark out of context.

Actually, no. What the poster said was that the Yanks and Sox are playing like complete opposites, not because of schedules, but because the Sox are winning consistently and the Yankees aren't, suggesting that the Sox would play even better now that they're entering the "cozy" part of the schedule. He never mentioned the Yankee's schedule as getting harder, when in fact, the Sox and Yankees schedule have been similar for the most part, and will continue to be similar as well.

This is the post he was responding to, he mentioned the schedule simply because the Sox *should* play better against weaker opposition, not because the schedule per se would give them an advantage, when the Yanks will enter a weaker part of their schedule as well.

No one cares. You say that every year.

Yeah, my point was that the two teams have easy schedules coming up but the Sox are playing really well and the Yankees are playing poorly. Teams tend to make their own momentum, when they find ways to lose against bad teams.
