Three HRs!! Against the O's! Really' date=' it's time to cut ties with Wakefield. Singles and walks are automatically doubles, because he delivers the ball so slowly and now he is giving up bombs. He needs to go.[/quote']

I agree with this. He's been a class guy for the organization from day one. Hopefully, he steps up again and makes the decision easy for them by hanging them up.

Average FB speed was 91.79 tonight, maxing at 94.

That wasn't the guy you saw in March.

Before the 5th, he was cruising. He made the pitches, so he's responsible for the 5th, but it could have been managed better. Although, Wake sucked balls too, so I'm not sure the result would have been much different.

There was no gun in Ft. Myers, but the paper the next day said that he hit 90 only once. I don't trust guns. He didn't look to have any life on his fastball tonight despite the gun readings. It's hard to tell on TV.

Even though the end result was awful, i think the velocity on Matsuzaka is an encouraging sign. *Cue firing squad*.

Gameday isn't a gun. It's high speed cameras taking photos at 60 Hz from 3 different angles. Brooksbaseball mines the data from Gameday's Pitch f/x system. Per Brooks, he was at 91.79 with 6" of armside run. That's the norm for him when he's healthy.

His command will come-- hopefully soon. If he's healthy, he'll be okay. I have had doubts about the condition of his shoulder.

It's the most accurate system for measuring a pitcher's velocity IMO.

I think Wake will retired after this year. He can make the Royals look bad, he makes the Red Sox looks bad when playing teams that gets on and run around like the Rangers, Angels or Rays.

I can't believe the people blaming Dice-k TOTALLY SUCKING on Francona. Dice-K just plain sucks. He sucked last year and he's going to suck again all this year.

Right.

He was fantastic for 4 innings tonight, started to get tired, and Francona was asleep at the wheel. I think he should've pulled him much, much earlier than he did. ORS already made the point that tonight was basically his spring training. Tito should've pulled him in the 5th when he was clearly laboring and they could work up his pitch count over the next few starts. He let him stay out there too long and all hell broke loose.

I'm encouraged from what I saw from Dice tonight, prior to the 5th inning obviously. I think he's going to be a lot better this season than what most people are expecting.

If he doesn't totally suck he'll exceed expectations.
