$18 million is a shitload to pay for a guy that is a really good team mate.

Cameron makes $18. mil. over two years? I thought it was $15. mil..

Either way, too much money for his level of play.

It's not so bad for a two years contract considering he's been worth more than $18 a year in each of the last two years.

Cameron is making $15.5MM over two years....wouldn't matter if it was 18' date=' it's still too much.[/quote']

But..but..but...he's great at run prevention!!!! RUN PREVENTION, I TELL YOU!

Not you WB...but to the rest of you UZR freaks...fools.

I'm not with you on this. At age 37, his productivity and health will fall off.

Unless your name is Barry Bonds.

He'd have to provide less than half the production per year that he's provided in each of the last two years to not be worth his contract. I don't think it's likely that he'll fall off that much.

Roids are no longer in vogue.

But HGH is, it allows older players to recover from physical exertion faster and MLB doesn't test for it.

I am sorry about that. :dunno: I don't mean to depress anyone. Maybe hearing it from me will ease the blow a bit when/if it happens. If Cameron and Ellsbury miss most of May' date=' our pitching is going to need to be lights out for the next month in my estimation and Drew and VMart are going to have hit and Ortiz and Lowell are going to have to produce out of the DH spot. Unless almost all of those things happen, we will be 10 games behind both Tampa and NY before Memorial Day. It pains me to think about it, but that's where my unscientific analysis leads me. If Ellsbury and Cameron come back earlier, things will be a lot easier.[/quote']

Yep. The sox fattened up on Texas, Baltimore and Toronto to get back to .500. They get 3 more in Baltimore to beef up their record to .500+ and then run into a buzzsaw. After Baltimore, 20 of your next 23 games are against playoff contenders. The only good thing for the sox is that 12 of the 20 are at home

I'm not with you you on this either. If his performance falls off that much, he'll be deemed a big time bust.

Someone posted the other day that they don't expect Tampa to continue playing .750 ball, and neither do I. However, a red hot start like Tampa's can be very difficult to overcome, especially if you are also off to a slow start. If they play .750 ball in their first 24 games (18-6) which is pretty close to their current record and they cool down a bit and play .550 for the next 40 games (22-18), their combined record would be 40-24. That's still .625 ball. If they cool off even more and merely play .500 for the next 36 games (18-18), their combined record would be 58-42 for the first 100 games for a .580 winning percentage. That's a damn good winning percentage and that would be after playing 75 games at a very mediocre clip. Hot starts are hard to overcome. They should not be disregarded because it's just April. When overcoming a hot start, you have to play excellent ball for a prolonged portion of the season and you have to hope for the team you are chasing to go cold. Unless Tampa gets bit by the injury bug, I don't foresee them having prolonged losing stretches. They are a very solid, well-balanced team. If the Sox are going to catch them, they are going to have to beat them in the head to head meetings.

Vmart started this way two years ago and never recovered. There was an injury, but I believe that happened in May.

Well this is a rather auspicious beginning.

It's probably because Spudboy called Lackey Horseface.:D

Inauspicious!

And I'll take them blame.!
