Filmed in 2000' date=' it followed three players while playing for the AAA Indianapolis Guardians for the season. Scutaro, Mica Franklin, and a pitcher whose name I can't remember. It's excellent. NESN showed it several times.[/quote']

I'll have to see if I can find it online somewhere. Thanks for the recommendation.

Francona using two pinch hitters in the same game. Shocking!

Yeah, he's really more of a no good move is a good move manager. I'm surprised he didn't leave Ortiz in the 3 spot of the order for 2 months this year while he figured things out.

A nice easy save from Papelbon.

I suspect we'll see a lot of these 7 innings performances from our starters this year. Lester, Beckett and Lackey all go deep into games.

This is what I was expecting going into this year. If Beckett and Lackey can now figure it out we should be more than fine, even if Dice-K is still just a 5-6 inning pitcher. What a great game!

These are games that they have to win, however, when they are slumping and so banged up, it's not easy. They need to not let too much distance grow between them and the Yanks and Tampa. Being able to win games when they are rolling out trash cans the likes of McDonald and Hall is huge.

What is the deal with the McDonald hate? Who cares if he was/is a career minor leaguer, ever since being called up, he's been hitting and has come through for us numerous times.

a700 is the only one I've noticed with very strong criticisms on him-- but everyone is enjoying the short term high. But when it comes down to it, everyone knows how weak it is to have lineup of hall/van/mcdonald in the outfield.

Who hates him

It sure seems like you do, considering you just referred to him as a trash can. It also seems like you are always disappointed when McDonald is in the lineup.

I'm aware of that. However, McDonald has done nothing but contribute, he has had some huge hits this season, I don't care if it was against s***** pitching, guys like Ortiz, Drew and V-mart seem to have trouble vs this "s***** pitching".

McDonald has done more then anyone could of imagined, I'm glad he got called up and I hope he can continue hitting until Ellsbury and/or Cameron return.

Edit: basically what I'm saying is, I don't get how you can blame the lineups struggles on McDonald who has been great offensively.

He's a 31 year old minor league. He's a career minor leaguer. Isn't he? He doesn't belong in the majors as determined by 30 major league franchises. That doesn't mean that I hate him. He is what he is and he can't help that he stinks by major league standards. I root for him when he is in the field and at bat. I have stated it several times here that I have never booed one of our guys in 40+ years of going to Sox games, and I have seen some real pigs play. I hate that our guys are injured and that we don't have better more experienced major league caliber backups. Is he minor league trash? Yes, he is. Does that mean that I hate him? No. Ted Williams never would have used his name, He just addressed guys like McDonald as "Bush." Did he hate them? No.

I can understand lament for not having "more experienced" backups when/if the replacement backup plays like the scrub you call him. When he doesn't, seems like a good time to just enjoy it. For whatever reason, you are apparently unable to do this, and you bitch about him being on the team, even while he's performing. It's misplaced. This is what I think you are being called on, and, quite frankly, it's deserved.

I am very happy when he does well. So what am I being called on. When my assistant at work is out at a conference or on vacation, I hate having temps come in, because their performance falls far short of my assistant. Do I hate the temps? No. Do I appreciate when they do well? Of course I do. So, I am not seeing what the issue is. I hate temp weeks at work and I hate minor league scubs in the Red Sox lineup. There is nothing misplaced about that.

We should be talking about Lester's dominant performance, the fact that Papelbon has now had 2 straight clean saves, and that McDonald scored one of the runs today and drove in the other.

McDonald's done a terrific job. If it wasn't for him, we'd probably be 2 or 3 games under .500. He's both driven in a run and scored a run in 4 one run games for us in his 9 games in the majors.
