Who'd have thought that our 2-5 hitters would be the only ones without a hit today?

Gom would, just ask him.

Im not a Drew hater but he goes in that group. The only thing he has over Ortiz is that he has homered

Oh definitely. Hes been probably in the worst slump of everyone on the team, but he doesnt hit in the three or four hole, which is what i was really refering to.

usually, the Sox start hot and the Yankees weak, odd what's going on this year

still, if the offense wasn't so depending on aging vets like Drew and Oritz there'd be less concern, and even if Theo goes out for some big bat, what's the price - Casey Kelly?

Another game I'm glad I missed. For FAAAACK'S Sake this team needs a spark or something. This is brutal. Glad it's still April. UGH!

Well I'm glad I'm a Twins fan too I guess, the Sox have been depressing. Haven't watched games or anything, just see the box scores and stats and all that. The Twins kinda help to balance it out a little, just wish that the Sox could pick it up, glad I got to see a win in my first time at Target Field.

So, what are your impressions of Target Field?

Gom declares himself the winner of an argument. What a surprise' date=' he never does that.[/quote']

With you, I've won before I even start.

*Yawn*

Wake me up at the ASB.

For your sake [and my income], I hope the Red Sox wake up well before that.

This is why I am so excited. NY is a traditionally a second half team, with guys like CC, Cano, Pettitte, ARod and Tex being pretty damn good down the stretch. By starting out red hot, this team is probably headed for an uncontested run to the playoffs when everything is going right.

Give me a break. You do a spin job no matter how things are playing out. There is, btw, no such thing as an "uncontested" run in the AL East. It's not like 2006 or 2007. The Rays are godawesome.

And what were you thinking in saying that Hermida would be DFA'ed before Hall? Wow, No way. Hermida was a nice pickup for Boston, has pop. Even if he shouldn't play the field. Hall could at some point be DFA'ed.

When you are being called foolish for being judge and jury in your own arguments, it doesn't help to dive deeper, it only draws more attention to the foolishness. However, since foolish appears to be your home address, this was expected.

Theo's 'bridge' is falling down... Who would have thought run prevention means we will prevent ourself from scoring.

When its going bad, it's not as bad as it looks; just like when it's going great, it's not as good as it looks. You can't judge this team on 12 games to start the season. Save your judgments for at least another 2+ weeks.

He's pretty much always negative.

Reality check:

One player on this team is hitting, Dustin Pedroia. Ortiz, who will never be the '04-'07 Ortiz again, will not hit .150 for the year. Ditto Drew, and Martinez at .210, and Youk at .220. This will get better

The big 3 have produced 3 good starts after 3 turns through the rotation. This is with Buchholz being a little shaky but showing some good signs, ie, not lighting the world on fire, and Wake being exactly as advertised. This will get better.

The defense has been weak to start the year. Either all these new pickups will continue to play at a level that far exceeds the worst performance they've ever put forth over a full season, or as the number of games increases they play to their normal level. Not saying the former couldn't happen, but I wouldn't put money on it.

On the other side of the coin, the bullpen looks like it will be a weakness, which will make prolonged winning streaks difficult when these other areas right themselves. This means things need to get right sooner rather than later because it will be difficult to make up ground with a weak bullpen.

Ahhhhhhh. Common sense. Reality. Patience. So rare out here these days. Thanks ORS.

Oh, allow me to add KNOWLEDGE which is much better than all of the KNEE JERK crap that is being posted out here.

Damn you ORS! I have to wipe my laptop off again!

Pull you pants back up, and it won't happen again.

How come everyone thinks it's the end of the world? It's just like ORS says, there's a bunch of people who are obviously capable of so much more, who are slumping to begin the season. Why does everyone blame it on not having this guy or that guy, when in reality, Youk is hitting poorly, do you expect him to finish the season at .220? Or even .290 for that matter?

No one's using their head, they think that it's just going to continue on like this. Obviously you need to fix it, but it's not the end of the world. It's not time to call for a trade for Gonzalez when you're 10 games into a season. It's kinda the opposite of when Chris Shelton started a season hitting like 10 home runs in the first 8 games or something ridiculous like that. People were calling him MVP, savior of the Tigers, etc. Tigers were good that year, but he ended up going back to the minors. Things will even out. We're just not used to seeing the Sox start the season with such a slumping lineup.
