guess I'd feel better if there weren't so many prospects flaming out in the high minors, there is no Pedroia, Youk, or Ellsbury to replace Drew, Ortiz, or any of the light hitting vets

I'm not that worried because it is April, and because over the years I've worked to not have my mood impacted by the ups and downs of my favorite baseball team.

 

That said, I see some pretty significant holes in this club which I fear may be fatal--specifically middle relief and catching.

 

Also, the Rays and Yankees are REALLY good teams.

And if there is anything worth smiling about, Varitek was close to his 4th HR of the season and had a nice opposite field single. Both are from his weaker left side.

Most of our big name prospects are in the low to mid minors anyway, so we've barely had any that have flamed out in the high minors recently. I don't have the slightest idea what you are talking about. You're probably referring to some AAAA fodder anyway.
