In the Oakland/Seattle game, the runners got to advance a base because the catcher picked up the ball with his helmet. Did anyone see this? Does anyone know the rule on this?

(a) To home base, scoring a run, if a fair ball goes out of the playing field in flight and he touched all bases legally; or if a fair ball which, in the umpire’s judgment, would have gone out of the playing field in flight, is deflected by the act of a fielder in throwing his glove, cap, or any article of his apparel;

( Three bases, if a fielder deliberately touches a fair ball with his cap, mask or any part of his uniform detached from its proper place on his person. The ball is in play and the batter may advance to home base at his peril;

For the record, the league I'm in values holds, as well as ERA, WHIP, and K/9. If you look at the past 2 years, they have all been pretty good. Obviously it's my own fault, but it's not like it was an idiot move.

I saw Clippard pitch a little last year. The guy has good stuff. Looks like he is starting to harness it.
