I don't like the idea of moving teams that have been around for a long time with established fan bases to the other league. Expansion teams from the last 30 years or so are fair game, though.

Which teams? I had reasoning behind most of my selections lol Maybe I can sway you :D

Well I moved Baltimore to the NL East because one, I believe there fan base could handle such a move. 2. They could match the Phillies spending wise. And with my 2 team from each division makes the playoffs, they could be perennial contenders for the playoffs often.

Again I think Cleveland could make a switch relatively easily. They lose the DH. But there SP becomes just that much better. And Cleveland is know for bringing up some quality arms.

The Reds fan base is mediocre really. So switch leagues, get the DH into that ban box, put up some big offense and put some ass's in the seats. Seems like a win to me :D.

And just think, each year at least one of Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Toronto will be going to the playoffs. Can any of those organizations say that now?

I'm not saying it's perfect, but it benefits a lot of organizations IMO.

LOL I thought I moved the Reds to the AL. There still in the NL. Just in the new "North division"

It's late here lol

Playing the Yankees and Rays 19 times a year each hurts the Sox record and it kind dampens the rivalry when we play them so many times, especially so early in the season. But you can't go around mixing up the leagues, because eliminating the whole DH would be a HUGE issue. Just keep the divisions, but just take the top four teams with the best record in each league

You have the Nationals in the AL East and the NL South, and you have the Reds in the AL North and NL North. You're also missing the Cardinals and Diamondbacks.

Rosenthal's thoughts are more worthless than his inside tips on player transactions. The only times he is right is when he repeats old information that has been made public by someone else. All of his scoops are wrong. His analytical articles like the "Red Sox are a racist organization" piece are poorly conceived and unsupportable. This article is equally a waste of everyone's time.

Who cares? It's not like they're actually relocating, it's just three mediocre franchises with little value to baseball's history changing divisions.

Expansion(Carolina/New Orleans/Dallas)

New Orleans would not be able to support a baseball team. Plus the dog days would be hell in that weather.

Dallas is Rangers territory.

I know Selig said he wont expand any further, but I see 2 more teams in the major leagues' future, especially with the success of the last 4. The Marlins win 2 titles, the DBacks win 1, Colorado makes the playoffs a bunch of times and plays in a world series as does Tampa. I bet Portland, Oregon could support a team, especially with Oregon St. being such a powerhouse. The other could be in the Carolinas.

Ignorance.

I'll give you the Guardians as a mediocre franchise (Sorry suns, but it's true), but the Orioles won a World Series in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. And the Reds had a dynasty in the 70s. The Big Red Machine was an historic team if there ever was one. Also won a WS in 1990.

And I don't have a problem with those teams changing divisions. I specifically said leagues.

I don't know why Carolina doesn't have a pro baseball team to be honest. Isn't college baseball really popular down there? I think they could support a team

College baseball is huge in Florida. Ask the Marlins how their attendance has been.

If the goal was competitive balance only' date=' then you'd have to move Boston out of the AL East or the Yankees for that matter.[/quote']

Is the issue that the AL East is too strong, or really that other divisions just suck? More divisions means more teams, even if they initially deny it. That translates into a weaker game. I think they've already diluted the talent pool enough already. All they need to do is look at the NHL to realize that they've spread themselves thin enough already. Two leagues each with two divisions, each division with 6 teams really is plenty. And taking the inequity out of the scheduling would insure that the cream rises to the top over the season and the four best teams make the playoffs. Yes, a wild card team can be hot and win it all, but I'm of the school that if they didn't win the division that they don't belong in the playoffs in the first place.

Yes, I am aware of '04.

Baseball's historic 'integrity' (cuz thats so so so so important) doesn't get trampled by those three franchises being gone from the league altogether, let alone staying in their city, keeping their team history, and merely changing divisions/leagues. I think baseball would live through such a scenario.

And I don't have a problem with those teams changing divisions. I specifically said leagues.

Okay, who cares if they change leagues? They aren't relocating.

I never said baseball wouldn't survive. I just said I would be against the move. You care nothing for franchise history and have advocated identical dimensions and indoor ballparks for every team.

We are clearly at opposite ends of the baseball fan spectrum.

Against a completely harmless move, that could very well be beneficial for baseball's future, for the sake of preserving random bits of baseball's past.

Makes no sense at all.

Any decisions concerning realignment, expansion, dissolution, etc., will have nothing to do with what is best for baseball or it's fans. It will come down to maximizing the short term profits of a few really rich men.

Well A. The Marlins play in a football stadium and B. no cares about baseball in Miami or anywhere in Florida, I don't know how you can draw a comparison between Florida and Carolina
