Brian Westbrook was just released by the Eagles. I read that he doesn't want to retire. I'd take a chance on him for the right price. A poor man's Marshall Faulk, but he's still damn good. The question is how many more concussions can he take?

The Patriots need to bolster their running game. With LT and Westbrook available, I wonder if they take a chance on either of them. This should be a interesting off season with the uncapped year and pending lock out possibility.

The Pats are also interested in Julius Peppers. Also worth noting is that many teams are trying to trade down in this years draft.

He's going to be too expensive IMO. I think they might add their 1st round+ 1 of the 2nd round picks and move up to possibly get a pass rusher.

BTW, I like that trade for TB. Suh is a monster. Any word yet if the trade is a sure thing?

Rams GM Billy Devaney denies he's had any contact with the Bucs about a trade involving the Nos. 1 and 3 overall picks and QB Josh Johnson.

Scout.com's Chris Steuber reported Saturday that the Rams are eying Johnson as a fall-back plan or alternative to acquiring Michael Vick. "I am being completely honest when I say I have not talked to anyone in Tampa Bay," Devaney said in an NFL.com chat Monday. "I'm not saying that won't happen at some point but to date there is absolutely nothing going on."

He didnt actually outright deny it:dunno:

According to beat writer Kevin Acee, the Chargers have no intention of using the franchise tag on RB/KR Darren Sproles for a second straight season.

The Bolts will talk to Sproles' agent during the Combine this week. They remain interested in a long-term deal, but Sproles won't be receiving a one-year offer at close to $7.3M. GM A.J. Smith maintains that Sproles is maxed out as a return ace and backup runner, so expect the free agent to test the market this time around.

ESPN's Len Pasquarelli suggests that Antonio Cromartie could be traded "to an AFC East club in return for a tailback."

AFC East backs that may be on the block include Marshawn Lynch, Thomas Jones, and Laurence Maroney. Cromartie, though, probably doesn't appeal strongly to any of the aforementioned teams because he can't (or won't) tackle. A power runner with versatility, Lynch would be San Diego's most desirable pickup. It will likely take more than just Cromartie to get him.

Wouldnt mind at all if Pats were to send Laurence Maroney and a draft pick to San Diego for Cromartie, then try and add Sproles to the backfield mix

I could get on board with that. even though Sproles isn't the complete answer to the Pats RB problems. But having a skillful CB liks Cromartie would be nice.

I'm not sure of the reason, but I just have a feeling LT will be in NE next year.

Jones is about to turn 32. I really don't want to see the Pats go after this guy. The Jets abused the hell out of him and it showed during the playoffs last year when he looked very uneffective and he ended up taking a backseat to the rookie Greene.

Well, I can't speak for the Patriots' situation, but I would definitely take Thomas back on the Bears. Forte is very good at catching passes from out of the backfield. That's about all he can do, though.

Some notable expected signings today:

Julius Peppers and Chestor Taylor expected to sign with the Bears

Karlos Dansby expected to sign with Dolphins.

There is also a ton of other rumors, should be an exciting day.

Looks like the NYJ land Cromartie for a conditional 3rd rounder.

The Jets D will be even better next year. They have 2 great corners and they will get back their starting nose tackle. If Sanchez progresses the Jets will be tough. Revis Island just got harder to throw on!

Cromartie sucks. He'll be Lito Sheppard bust 2.0 for the Jets except more disappointing

The simple fact is he was kicked out of San Diego because of one play. If anyone can get a fire lit under his ass it's Rex Ryan and the leaders of that defense. This was an amazing move for the Jets.

Plus, don't forget that Cromartie wants to play man defense, which is something he didn't get to do that much in San Diego and will get to do loads of in New York. I think that the Jets will be a great fit for him. And it's well worth a 2nd/3rd round draft pick in 2011.

I couldn't be happier with acquiring Peppers. The six-year deal might be a bit too long for someone in his early 30s, but the guy gives the pass rush instant credibility. And it takes a lot of pressure off Tommy Harris, so hopefully he can bounce back.

Chester Taylor is also a nice pickup. If the Bears are smart, he'll get most of the carries. But I expect another obstinate stance from Lovie Smith. "Matt is our running back."

Two straight offseasons where the Bears lock up high profile free agents? It's unprecedented. Don't stop now, Angelo. You're not getting anything from the draft this year.
