Jeter wont be the shortstop for long. This guy decided to pass up the opportunity to be the SS in Yankee Stadium for being on a team with absolutely no chance of doing anything. I can understand some of the lesser talented guys choosing a place like Toronto, but this kid truly would have been the heir apparent in NY at SS. Oh well. Movin on.

Jose Iglesias, we love you.

Even kids growing up in Cuba know the Red Sox have no shortstop to block you! It finally works to our advantage.

Let's see how fast Jacko turns on him and starts saying that he isn't any good.

About .5 seconds after the ink is dry on the contract.

This kid is good' date=' I wanted him. But he didnt want to wait for Jeter to move off the position.[/quote']

He's better off making a name for himself in Toronto, letting Jeter retire, let some other guy try and replace him. And when that inevitably fails, he can come to NY looking like a savior, instead of trying to replace a legend.

Good point.

Besides, it's not like the Yankees won't ever get him. If he turns out to be as good as advertised he'll probably end up in NY when he hits Free Agency. One can consider his time in Toronto a "scouting" period.

Although not a guarantee that everyone good will end up signing with the NYY in free agency. It goes down as a missed chance for now for Cashman that he signed in Toronto. :)
