Germany is up 1-0 on Ghana, and Australia is up 2-0 on Serbia. As of now, Germany would play England and the US would play Ghana in the next round. It looks like we don't have to worry about Serbia anymore, but if Germany or Australia score again, then Australia may find itself in Ghana's place.

And now Serbia is a goal away from staying afloat. They score again and Germany holds the score at 1-0, then they would be ahead of Ghana by total goals scored.

What a blown game by Serbia. They have to be kicking themselves for losing to Australia and now they're going home.

Ghana it is. We lost to them in '06 at the WC.

Ghana is a gonner.

See what I did there?

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Got to love a Newton / Vandy Education!;)

God damn it Italy. Looks like they are out early as well. I'd even allow France back it if it meant keeping Italy in the World Cup. Then again, they most likely wouldn't win anyway, so I'd rather that they lose now and get it over with.

See ya, Italy.

You mean to tell me after the group stage we can have France AND Italy both gone? It's like an early Christmas present to have the flopping bitches out of the tournament already.

Way to show some class after the defeat, Lippi. He fled to the locker room without even shaking hands with the Slovakia coach. So glad Italy is out.

Uruguay takes a 2-1 lead on South Korea in the 80th minute on a nasty goal by Luis Suarez (his 2nd of the game). Uruguay scored in the 7th minute and South Korea had tied it in the middle of the 2nd half. The 2nd goal by Suarez looks to seal it.

You can hear fans chanting "U-S-A, U-S-A".

Also, Ghana's only goals in the World Cup thus far have been from penalty kicks, and the referee has only issued 4 cards (all yellow) in his 2 matches in this World Cup. This should favour the US a bit.

Ooh. Findley should have had that. 1 on 1 vs. the goalie. He really should have buried it instead of kicking it right at the keeper.

Also, they take Clark off for Maurice Edu which is a good call since Clark got an early yellow card, and was the reason why Boateng got the good shot off early.

As I write this, Ghana almost makes it 2-0.

Great start to the 2nd half for the US.

Yeah, they're starting to look real good. Hopefully it leads to the equalizer.

Another great chance for the USA, Michael Bradley was alone with the ball (he looked offsides, but he was clearly onside) and shot the ball right at the keeper on the ground. If he put the ball in the air, he might have had it.

Also, Kevin Prince Boateng (the goal scorer) is hurt and is subbed off, and Kevin Appiah (the guy who scored the penalty against the US in 2006) is brought in.
