Jesus... some of these soccer players make Paul Pierce "needing" a wheel chair in the 2008 Finals look reasonable. Enough with the fake injuries.

He was lying down directly in the way of the play, so then they grab a stretcher, grab him, move him to the side of the field, and then he immediately gets out of the stretcher and walks away.

I got so frustrated with this world cup. You would think they'd try to clean some of this garbage up somewhere along the line.

I actually posted my post before that particular fake injury.

It's ridiculous, and I've seen it from every team in the tournament, US included.

I've seen people get carded for similar behaviour, and I thought an extra card or two should have been handed out to Ghana for it.

If it's any consolation, Ghana should get destroyed by Uruguay, much like they got pounded by Brazil immediately after beating the US in 2006.

This loss was very depressing. Especially because a playoff draw of Ghana and Uruguay should've given the US a very good chance at making the semis

Uruguay is no Brazil, it should be a close game.

My original point is that around 90% of Americans don't pay attention to soccer, and essential say the sport sucks until they hop on the bandwagon for the World Cup.

Soccer (Futball) is only as popular as it in America because of tittle 9 and our liberal immigration laws.

It's a great sport for most of the world ( because it's cheap) but it has a tough road to how here.

I can't watch a sport where no one scores, the players are soft and flop around, its just boring and a sport like that shouldn't be endorsed or promoted

The vast majority of the world disagrees with you, so apparently it should be endorsed and promoted.

England gets sloppy on a ball down the middle. Very similar to Gyan's goal to win it for Ghana yesterday.

I just realized that I'm a little behind because I paused the game to put the 1 y/o down for a nap. Clearly, the replay showed it was in. My previous post was my initial reaction before the replay.

Wouldn't it benefit the game if they had another official assigned to each goal, for the sole purpose of being in the right position to determine if the ball went in? There's no sense in relying on the judgment of someone who is regularly out of position because he needs to move along with the play.

Makes too much sense. FIFA would never allow it.

Wow, that was a blowout. I didn't see the call that screwed over England but I heard about it. Germany will likely play Argentina, that should be a very good match. I think its a joke that Germany and Argentina will be playing each other at the same time as Ghana and Uruguay :D

The talent level is clearly the highest for Germany and Argentina

To take your point a step further, Spain and Portugal play a round before Ghana and Uruguay play.
