It was from a free kick, it was a good cross and there was a lot of wrestling when the ball was in the air, and 3 US players were free on the back side and one of them knocked in the easy goal. I'm not sure if one was called offsides, OR, if a foul was called on the play. In any event, nobody was offsides (thanks to replay) and not only was the US not guilty of a foul, but a Slovenian player basically bearhugged Bradley for the entire play. It either should have been the goal, OR a penalty kick to the US.

Michael Bradley (coach's son). He was a trail runner and it was a garbage-cleanup (rebound) goal, but he did well not to shoot it over the crossbar since it was bouncing when he shot it.

And New Zealand takes a 1-0 lead on Italy. If Italy loses to New Zealand, they should just leave South Africa now. I can't believe that they almost lost to Paraguay in the first round, but this would be even worse.

I think they showed it hit off of the Italy player first, negating the offsides, I guess... I don't know enough about soccer to know for sure.

It did, however, it hit off a NZ player, then an Italy player, and then went to the NZ player for the goal. When it first went off the NZ player, the other NZ player was offsides. Had it only touched the Italy player, then it would not have been offsides.

 

Oh well, Italy equalises on an equally questionable penalty.
