How did people get news before Twitter!?

I was thinking the same thing! LOL

I don't use it, but was it being used a lot last off season? Or is this the big boom for it so far in baseball?

That means Bobby Jenks is as good as gone.

Not necessarily. I know they've involved him in trade discussions, but I doubt they hand over the closer's role to Putz after not pitching most of last season. I think they're better suited having Putz set up for Jenks.

I'm almost positive Kenny Williams wants to get rid of Jenks. If Putz doesn't close next year, he'll be the setup man for Matt Thornton.

This is non-news but I'm bored and there isn't much happening.

Josh Towers signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers. He spent 2009 with the Yanks, mostly in AAA but had a brief stint in September.

He's in for a very rude awakening.

How about Damon, asking for 3 years, 36 million?

There are going to be a LOT of rude awakenings.

Far cry from the 40 million we heard tossed around.

it helps that he is close friends with Iglesias. It may be a hey i wanna play with my best friend

No one will offer 40 million. He will get similar to what Strasburg got from the Nats (4 yrs/15.1 million). The difference of 40 million and 15 million is too large to just wanting to "play with a friend."

Wait for Lackey for the Sox and Halladay to the Phillies. Mets will be forced to come in with a $60 million offer, its omar's style.

I can definitely see the Mets getting in on Chapman. Obviously he won't offer that much, but he'll definitely be in on it, especially since it appears Halladay is headed to the Phils.

Matsui is gone.

I must say, Cashman watching while the competition is getting better...I'm not too happy.

This has been the plan all along, IMO. They wanted no part of Matsui for 2010. They need the DH spot quasi open so that they can get guys a rest. With Damon, you can at least put him in the OF here and there. WIth Matsui, you really cannot.

I liked Matsui more than Damon because he was more consistent, and could hit lefties more. Plus, the money and the length of the deal would be about half for Damon. Considering how well Damon plays the outfield, I think Matsui is the better value, or at least was. Is Damon's pathetic ability to play the OF worth an extra year and 12 extra million? With the Sox getting Lackey, they still have all the tools to make a MAJOR deal. AG or Hanley may be on the radar. Any way you look at it, we've taken a step back. We've gotten older as a team, and replaced Matsui's and Damon's production with Granderson.

So far, here are the additions:

Granderson

Hoffman

Here are the losses:

Matsui

Damon

Wang

Coke

A. Jackson

I. Kennedy

That's a trade I would NOT make.

I know the Yankees aren't done...but as of now, we're not looking too good compared to the Sox. They've added Hermidia, Cameron, Scutaro and Lackey for Bay and Brian Anderson. They're about to pull the trigger on Beltre for Lowell. The Sox have gained about 6-8 games, I'd say, and the Yankees have lost about 5 so far. I think we're pretty much dead even, and the Sox may be even better.

Id say at this point the Sox have the advantage of starting rotation, 6 starters are currently in the fold. Yankees really are just certain about 3 of the spots. The bullpen I would say Red Sox, but we'll see if Paps can bounce back from his heart attack saves. By far the Yankees have a better lineup. Maybe the Sox could tip the scales with a trade for a big bat
