Leandro Barbosa and Rudy Fernandez said to be Celtic trade targets. Whether they would be replacing Ray Allen or just playing behind him is currently unknown.

Get your own damn link.

Allen re-signs. 2 years $20 million. I'm a little bit surprised but I think the Celts can make one more shot next year with the current team.

I'm surprised that Pierce got 60+ and Ray only got 20. I can't believe the pay cut Ray took, but it helps the team immensely.

And everyone will still hate Ray for a few bad games in the Final Series.

Jermaine O'Neal signs with the Celtics for 2 years. Another solid pickup' date=' he's a great fill-in for Perk[/quote']

Not a big Jermaine O'Neal fan, but I really like that move for the Celtics!

On one hand, O'Neal is a better fit than Wallace was, but on the other hand, this guy is old, and I think it'll take all of two weeks to get his raggedy bones injured.

The jury will be out on this one, folks.

Anyone who watched the game can't honestly blame Ray for shooting poorly. He spent his entire offensive game running around trying to get Fisher off him, then he went on and had to defend Kobe who he couldn't as much as look at funny without getting a foul. I wish he knew his limits better and took fewer shots, but I don't blame him for losing that series.

True, but he did play 70 games last year and 68 the year before.

I guess his health in the long run is what is most important, but he's going to be depended on a lot more to be the player he used to be than he was the last few years.

Looking at O'Neal's numbers on games played, I'm not sure where you got your numbers. Since the 04-05 season, out of 574 possible games, he's played 344, meaning he's missed about 40% of his games in the last 7 years which is a really alarming number.

I still think it's way too early to pass judgment on the O'Neal signing. He's a player who can probably contribute 14/7 the way this roster is constructed, that not only is a far cry from the numbers he put up in his prime, but it's also very wishful thinking for him to not only put up those numbers, but to play 70 games at his full effectiveness.

Where were you during the gamethreads? I was defending Ray Allen and I was on an island. I could have used your help back then.

Sorry, since everyone watches the finals and its a social thing, I wasn't at a computer during most of the games.

The C's got Jermaine O'Neal' date=' who is wayy past his prime. And with the C's old and grey, this Miami team will shitstomp them.[/quote']

That's not saying that much, since Miami will beat the s*** out of almost every team in the NBA.

Still need more big man depth, but this is a great move and he'll be the starting Center until Perkins comes back. What do you expect out him though for most of the year? How many minutes, 20,25,30? What kind of production do you expect? 12/10, 12/8? I think as a 5th option, he'll be great. He struggeled in Miami because he had to be the number two option behind Wade, he isn't that type of guy anymore. I love his role here in Boston and i think he'll thrive.

C's want to bring back Tony Allen and Nate Robinson as well

Jermaine O'neal? I really don't like the guy but they almost had no choice in the matter. They are in dire need of big men and at least he's better than Kwame Brown.

I don't like them bringing Allen back but it's short money and they pretty much had no other option than to bring all the old guys back and give it one more short until KG and Ray's deals are expired. :dunno:

I still think we easily have a chance to give it one more run... I don't know past this year though.

We match up well with Miami. Allen on Wade, Pierce on LeBron and KG on Bosh could go our way as well. We're definitely more balanced than they are and have the better role players. We just have to stay healthy... big concern for this team obviously.

I can't stand people already fitting the Heat for their rings. They'll definitely win quite a few games solely because of their three main guys, but a championship caliber team who doesn't even have a full starting lineup yet? Jesus...

EDIT: I also think Shaq would've been a better signing just because of his sheer size. Yes, he's almost 40 years old, but the guy is still too big to not be somewhat dominant. I don't know how much money and the type of role he was demanding though. I would still like to see them go after him. They're already old for this year, they might as well take a chance on the talented ones for this year.

I'm definitely going to American Airlines this year when the Celtics are there.

Seriously? Shaq?

Seriously. Shaq.

Excellent, excellent move shoring up the big men situation. Last season's biggest weakness is now our biggest strength. What's more, if everyone's healthy at playoff time, this probably bumps Davis from the rotation. Hallelujah.

Davis is not getting bumped. They like him too much.

Unfortunately. He doesn't defend or rebound, and his lack of height prevents him from being much of a scorer.

All he's ever done is have one or two good games every spring, and make funny faces that always find their way onto the playoff montages.
