The manager is terrible and they are terrible when it comes to pitch selection. It hurt them during the season, I continually pointed it out, and it has now hurt them in the postseason. They have lost two games this postseason, not because the Angels outplayed them, but because the Yankees are stupid.

What are the chances that giradi gets fired after this year?

slim to none. steinbrenner doesn't care if they lose this one. Just more money in his fat f***ing hands.

I still think they will win the WS. But it will be in spite of the manager, not because of him. He is managing based upon the "pressure" from the media. In Game 3, he brought in Aceves. Dumb move, but whatever, it was tied in extras and the Halos were home. Tonight, he had a 2 run lead in the 7th and he f***ed it up

Even if they get to the World Series, they're not going to be able to stop the Phillies offense unless they correct these pitch selection issues.

What the f***!

Are you guys serious?

The Yankees are built to win. Calm down. It embarrassing.

From the neck down they're built to win a championship. How many Yankee games have you watched this year?

There is nothing wrong with the post you responded to. I'm asking Spudboy how many Yankee games he's watching this year, because I'm guessing he's not really in position to comment on the points I made in the initial post.

Nah man, he watches a lot of Yankee games.

I think what he means is that the Yanks are good enough to win even with Girardi's fail.

Clearly not as many as you!

The Yankees are your team. Through good or bad.

This is one game. Odds are, the Yankees prevail in this series and smoke the Phillies.

Have you seen the Phillies rotation?

I agree, but that has nothing to do with the point of the thread.

I think they can certainly win the World Series. It doesn't mean they don't have significant issues when it comes do decision making.

We agree with you.

We just think they'll probably win anyway.

Silly reactionary thread. Their pitch selection can't be that bad; they did, after all, lead all of baseball in OBP...

Pitch selection by the pitchers...

They have now lost two games in one series because of the same mistake. I don't understand how that happens.

Ah' date=' gotcha. Still a silly reactionary thread.[/quote']

Did you watch the sixth inning of game three and the seventh inning of game five?

EDIT: And it's not reactionary because I have been saying these things all year.

I watch most Yankee games. I have been saying it since last season that Girardi is an idiot prone to panic moves in important games. As tonight illustrated, he can panic into under-managing as easily as he can panic into over-managing. 228 is completely right about Girardi. If the win the Championship, it will be because the team was so strong that they overcame most of his terrible decisions.

So' date=' your contention is that Girardi and Pena and Posada are bad at calling games? Don't know about that.[/quote']

I've been saying it all year long. It has cost them two games in the postseason.

Fortunately, in this postseason, for the most part, they've abandoned that ridiculous RHP to LHH Greg Maddux run back two seam fastball. There is not a single pitch in baseball that I hate more, and Yankee pitchers get killed by it way too often.

Girardi will make another huge mistake, in my opinion, when he chooses to save Sabathia for game seven.

You can debate keeping Burnett in or not. That's fine. Put the blame squarely on Hughes for not locating and on Swisher for being the worst Yankee since Ian Kennedy.

If I'm the Yankees, I want to avoid this series going to seven games at all costs. If the Angels take game six, they are going to have so much going for them that I'm not even sure how much of an advantage it would be to have CC on the mound for game seven. Obviously I would rather have him over anyone else, but I think it's extremely important for the Yankees to avoid a game seven.

Also, with the way Hughes and Joba have looked, it might be important to have CC available for both games (one as a starter, and one to pitch to at least a couple batters late). The only way you can do that is if he starts game six.

Yeah no.

Not even close.

The blame is on Hughes for shaking off Posada, and Posada for not going out to the mound to present his case.
