Yay! A-Rod. You're our hero. This isn't like post-seasons past, this is a new and reformed A_Rod... or small-sample sizes and random variation are doing what just about everyone would expect, especially with Blackburn on the mound. Jesus, I hate the Yankees.

Whether they take the lead or not, it should be Joba for Span and Cabrera, Coke/Marte for Mauer and Kubel, Hughes, then Rivera. If Joba handles Span and Cabrera easily, I would let him face Mauer also. But a lefty needs to be in for Kubel.

What's funny is that in the regular season Joe never seemed to do what I wanted, but in the first two games here, he has done everything I hoped he would do.

Reign it in Joba. But I am okay with you walking Mauer here

Absolutely. Kubel goes from an all star caliber hitter against righties to a poor hitter against lefties. I would have considered the intentional walk.

I am fine with that. Coke vs Mauer was bad on all fronts. Coke vs Kubel is a good matchup, we'll see how it works. That being said, I like the Joba I see right now. 95-97mph is a lot nicer. If he continues to show a significant decrease in velocity through next season in the rotation, he might need to be switched back.

Yes, absolutely. If this team can advance in the playoffs, I'm pretty sure they're going to give Gaudin the game four start.

I posted Kubel's numbers against lefties before this series, and it's really holding true. They have got to take advantage of his inability to hit LHP throughout the duration of this series.

Now, for the next three innings or so (if the game goes that far), it'll be Hughes and Rivera.

Hughes and Mo should be ready to go 2 innings apiece. We have a day off tomorrow and a prime time game on Sunday, so it isnt like there is a quick turnaround.

Yes, strategy is key in a nail-biter of a series like this. I should have had some balls and bet on the sweep.

I would also go with Gaudin in game 4. Why? Because while Gaudin is likely to give a max of 5 innings, his capability out of the pen and the rotation is about the same. Whereas with Joba, he could be a Jekyll and Hyde starter for one game or a lights out reliever through the entire series.
