Thought they were going to blow it in the last 3 minutes after NYR cut it to 2-1, but good win to hold on and get the 2 points. Great job by Tuukka today.

Huge game on Tuesday.

Back to back great games by the Bruins vs. teams riding their ass in the standings. Team is playing each game like its a game 7 and hopefully the are gaining momentum and gearing up for the playoffs. The 6 seed is still in reach.

Good to see. Actually the 5 is within reach as Ottawa is +5 ahead of us but we've played 2 less games.

The planet-sized difference there is that we didn't have someone on hand who could easily replace Thomas and play more games a year doing it.

Really? We didn't? Funny, I was under the impression we had a young stud goaltender who is in the top 5 in the league in save % and GAA.

This move boggles the mind. At least the Thomas deal could be defended- not well, but it could. This maes no sense, especially with Stuart, Boychuck, and Seidenberg all approaching UFA or RFA status.

This marks the end of my support for Chiarelli. His plan doesn't work. The "tough to play against" meme only goes so far. Take that s*** back to Ottawa. He's f***ed with the team's depth and it will cost him unless he can dump Wideman AND Ryder AND Thomas.

Christ, when Dojji questions the move, you know it is s*****.

It's nothing against Ference cause he's a nice player but he plays a role that should be filled by a guy making a third of what Ference will make.

I wouldn't say Ference is "awful"...he's a decent 4/5th defender who will be making way above what his market value should be. If it was 1.75 mil, fine, 1.5 would have been great, but 2 and a quarter is absurd for a guy of his level.

I did find it odd though seeing a stat last night that the B's are like 6-13-5 (not 100% sure that's it, but something in that neighborhood) or something ridiculous like that without Ference in the lineup. I gotta say, that's most likely coincidence, because he's definitely not that valuable, to the point where being 27-14-7 with him in makes no sense for him to have that big of an impact on our team.

Rask and Thomas have proven that they can share a roster.

Rask did not replace Thomas. he replaced Manny Fernandez.

We can still replace Ferrence a good deal more easily than we could find that delicate balance of decent performance for small money over still-significant playing time that would actually replace Thomas. We have to go to FA for that in all likelihood. We had in-house options to replace Ferrence for less money. Boychuk, McQuaid, possibly Alexandrov or a bounceback from Hunwick, any of these could have turned that particular trick. Not to mention that we could still wind up with Cam Fowler in the draft.

Which is to say this is certainly not the time to announce this deal.

He's actually first in both.

Just caught that.

Rask and Thomas do not "share" anything. Rask has been the #e for going on two months now. This team simply plays better in front of Rask and heis the only reason they would have a chance at stealing a playoff series.

The bigger question resulting from the Ference signing is how they can sign Seidenberg AND Stuart AND the Pick AND another forward for scoring depth (be it Colborne or someone else).

It's going to be a s***** offseason if we can't unload Chiarelli's dead weight (and there is a LOT of it) and lose one of those guys.

The bottom line with the goaltending situation is that when $8.2 million of your cap is being spent on goaltenders, $5 mil of which is the backup, that's a problem.
Posted
Terrible, terrible, terrible. Ference sucks and when he is out there sucking he is hurt anyway. So we are paying a guy 2+ mill a year to do the same job a guy half his salary could do.

Stamkos was born in 1990.

Just saying.

This kid is unbelievable.

And he didn't even make our Olympic hockey team

True' date=' it wasn't all that surprising though. Crosby didn't play in 06.[/quote']

Yea but we finished 7th in '06

Bruins look like they might be waking up a bit. Three of their last 4 games they've looked a great deal more like the Bruins we hoped for, and the other game was a "moment of youth" by our not-quite-finished-product young Finnish tender in which we nonetheless scored 3 goals.

Could this team actually be "congealing at the right time?"

No. Lol, anyway, Idk if its just me, but I've noticed the team has been scoring a lot more since Savard has been out. Krejci is really stepping up and playing like he did last year, so is Lucic. Tim Thomas looked great today, as much as I prefer Rask I say you ride Tim Thomas while he is hot. Tied for 7th right now, lets keep up the good work B's!

Unreal win today. The atmosphere at the Garden was awful though. Letting Flames fans run through a GO FLAMES GO chant for a full period is unacceptable. The fans need to step up, imo.

And I don't want to say Krejci is stepping up, because he's having a BETTER year than last year and he's probably been one of our most consistent players all year long. He's playing better defensively. He's not getting the points he was because Ryder is a f***ing (for lack of a better term) homo, and Wheeler is still the same inconsistent younggin. He's not a first line center, but having him and Savard in the hole for the next couple of years puts us in a terrific position providing Savard isn't done for his career after the hit heard round the world.

Claude punted the game. I won't be sad if he is let go after thisseason is over. His system has been figured out and his in game adjustments (or lack thereof) are killing this team.

Why Thomas sees any time at al is mind boggling.

Posted

Thomas fans complain how everyone doesn't say anything good about him after a shutout but tonight is why they don't. He follows up a great game with a stinker.

Tonight put the season in a nutshell.

Thomas allows 3 goals and is yanked, Tuukka comes in and saves 19 and grabs an assist.

Chiarelli's contracts are running this team into the ground. I wouldn't be surprised if it's him telling Claude to play Thomas at this point.
