If the Yanks are too arrogant to celebrate a playoff birth, maybe we could help them not celebrate at all by letting them choke the divsion championship to us.

AL East. They won the game then watched the rest of the Yankee game' date=' then about an hour after the game went onto the field for the celebration.[/quote']

Right, I would expect them to celebrate after clinching the division. However, someone made a comment saying the Yankees would celebrate after clinching the wild card, when their primary goal was to still win the division.

In 2007 the Red Sox would have been in the same situation. They would have clinched a playoff berth prior to clinching the division, because the Yankees were winning the wild card. I was wondering if they had celebrated when they clinched just a playoff berth.

Well, if the quick bit of research I just did is correct, the Red Sox clinched a playoff berth in 2007 on 9/22 when the Tigers lost to the Royals. I think the Red Sox game that night had already been over for a little bit under an hour when the Tigers won. Not sure what they did though.

I'm just curious. We were having a discussion about what teams do when they clinch playoff berths if they're still playing for the division title. There is only one team since baseball adopted the three division system that the Red Sox would have been in this position (to the best of my knowledge). I was wondering what they did, because some posters thought the Yankees will celebrate when they clinch.

Just curious' date=' have you been to Kaufman since the refurb?[/quote']

No I haven't. I'd like to sometime in the near future though. It looks great.

The cool thing about Kauffman though is that you can walk up and buy $6 tickets and still grab some amazing seats.

I was there in 2002. It was very nice. Have they done more work on it since?

Yeah, they put in a bunch of nice bleachers all around the OF fence and some other stuff this off-season.

I saw the Mariners and Royals play there in '03. LIMA TIME!

I don't ever declare game in the first, but if you stake Greinke to a lead of 3 runs or greater, I might make an exception.
