What is Hardy's career OBP' date=' I know it isnt great but im just curious, and whatever it is I could see it rising 10-20 points in our lineup but thats strictly my opinion.[/quote']

.323, but this year hurt it tremendously.

.323 isn't THAT terrible when comparing it to our current options. can we say he can be a .330 OBP player with some potential to possibly raise that to a reasonable .340-.350 OBP with the sox if he pans out?

He's had OBP's above .340 in the past, so it's not out of the question.

Well he has pop too' date=' and had a career high of .343 last season[/quote']

which is easily an upgrade over any of our options, aside from Hanley but we have probably a 1.000065% chance of making that happen.

The consensus here seems to be Hardy for Delcarmen. But with everyone here talking him up it occurs to me that that's probably way too little. Don't think for a minute that the Brewers are blind to Hardy's potential and they'd probably be willing to hold onto Hardy if they don't get a price they like.

I think the most we'd have to pay is something like one of Felix Doubront or Delcarmen, and Anthony Rizzo.

Yeah I'd put someone with Delcarmen, and I'd guess that the Brewers would accept that. It's way different than if we'd asked last season, when he was in top form. The asking price is down significantly from this year, so I think we can give up a prospect and Delcarmen and pull this off

The Brewers will have the leverage to ask for a good amount for Hardy, who is coming off a rough yr. But by sending him to the minors, they saved an arbitration yr on him and can still say that an injury marred bad season is the only thing standing in the way of him having 3 consecutive 20 homer seasons as a starting shortstop. There will be a market for him, and I guarantee someone offers more than Delcarmen for him.

What leverage?

He sucked this year, and he's expensive.

He's gonna be in the 4-5 mil range and he's had one bad yr to two really good ones for a SS. He wont be given away. He's under control for 3 more yrs as well. They dont have to deal him.

Lol Alcides Escobar.

Yep' date=' they have Escobar. Who can play 2b or 3b as well.[/quote']

Yeah, but they also have Weeks and McGehee.

They want to get a return for Hardy. They don' want to choke on him.

Really?

You think they'll move Escobar to keep Hardy?

Lol dream on.

That is what teams do, they move a prospect to another position while the incumbent either gets moved or plays out the contract. I think Hardy gets moved this offseason, I really do. But from a leverage standpoint, they dont HAVE to move him. Thats the point.

Weeks, Gamel and McGehee.

Did you at least check out the Brewers' depth chart before making that statement?
