I will NEVER EVER root for the Yankees. The ONLY possible scenario I could imagine where I would (while resenting) root for the Yankees were if it was a 1-game playoff between them and a team blocking us, where the Yankees losing would knock us out of the playoffs. In ever other scenario, It's f*** the Yankees.

 

Yes, I'd rather the Yankees get swept and the Red Sox possibly lose the lead in the WC than the Yankees win. Remember, if the Yankees get cold and the Sox get hot, it IS still possible to get the division (thought extremely unlikely).

 

The Point is, unless it's some fluke thing, I will never root for the Yankees. Period.

It's ridiculous to see and hear Sox fans rooting for the Yanks to win in hopes of furthering our WC lead. With a little less than 40 games left, it's easily possible for us to win the division. I don't get why everyone is writing that off. A Sox win streak coupled with a Yanks losing streak is not out impossible. Good lord.

The division is not impossible to win. We need to sweep the White Sox and Texas needs to sweep the NYY. The only time I came close to rooting for the NYY was after 9/11/01. Can't do it.

I'm rooting for the Rangers for sure. Someone needs to knock the f'ing Yankees off their pedestal. They're a very, very good team and I want them to lose.

 

Also, I'm less worried about the Rangers than I am about the Rays. The Rays scare me more than the Yankees do because:

1. they play better against the Red Sox than just about anyone in baseball

2. losing to them is more embarassing than losing to the Yankees

3. the Rays have all the makings of a great team for years to come

I have not given up on winning the division. If the Rangers can sweep the yanks and the Sox can sweep Chicago, the Yankee lead would be down to 4 games before September 1st. Four games is striking distance.
