Maybe since he was looking to bury it in Youk's ribs he didn't see the need to turn up the velocity to 95. Getting hit at 80 smarts a bit too.

Jackson, I think you are acting peculiar tonight in light of havving a 5 1/2 game lead and a late inning comeback win tonight. I think this Sox team still has you worried.

nah, been drinkin

And then Verlander would get ejected and suspended.

My IQ goes down yet again after reading one of your posts.

A. he wont get ejected

B. He would get a 6 game suspension, which would get reduced to 5 after an appeal and he'd have his start pushed back one game.

For starting pitchers, there is minimal retribution for hitting someone

I don't think he would get suspended but not ejected, If they thought there was enough intent to suspend him why wouldn't they eject him?

Also, the sox do not have me worried for the regular season. But when you can put their pen up there with Beckett and Lester for at least 4 games of a series, you have to respect their chances. As long as we dont draw the goddamn Angels, I think we can take this. That being said, I want NYY to crush the sox in the standings. Winning by 1 game is nice, but I'd like to be up by 10 games when the season ends. Never take the foot off the throat.

without a warning prior to the game, it would be really, really hard to toss the guy. Especially if tomorrow is a clean game

A) You think he won't get ejected? He will, don't be delusional.

B ) You think he'll get a 6-game suspension, essentially forcing the Tigers to re-shuffle their rotation in the midst of a pennant race.

The Tigers must thank the heavens Leyland is not as delusional as you are.

Do the umpire's minds and memories reset after a game is over?

He would get a normal suspension for (if your theory carries out) throwing a 100 mph fastball at someone's head, and putting that person on the ground, AFTER said batter was hit two games prior and charged the mound?

No.

How about putting them down, as you suggested?

I said put him down. I didnt say kill him. Have you ever been hit by a 95+ mph fastball? It is a whole lot different than 89. And Leyland would never condone headhunting. Maybe the hip or the ribs. That would be enough to hold him for a second. AND, I would find it really hard to believe that Youkilis would charge twice in a series.

Like J_E said they aren't going to forget about what happened tonight and let someone head hunt at 100 MPH and not eject him

I don't I think he would take his bat out there and beat him senseless, that would be 3 times in one series, he would be pissed as f***

If he feels targeted, why won't he charge? He is a fiery guy.

im glad that despite your anger at the FOs trade deadline shyness you still feel that way, and I agree btw.

I don't think it's the Yankees division yet either, that's just Yankee fans wishful thinking because they got a lead in the division and don't want to admit the sox are still in it because they are worried

It was a hanging slider. Pretty bad pitch with good results.

ah my bad then lol, you can live with a bad slider at 83 when everyone is sitting on the OMG THATS FAST fast ball.

It still looked like a changeup to me...does Bard have a change?lol

no doubt, I like your realistic optimism.

Ortiz's at-bats make want to go to the nearest wall and bang my head repeatedly.

This may clear your ears but will deprive us all of some really good input. And you won't be able to enjoy Slayer.

Please don't.

Really? I've had other people tell me often how I'm a bandwith-wasting macromaniac, and nothing more.

In order to get it down to 4, the sox would have to play out of this world baseball. Cause I think the yankees finish this month on a tear.

Home vs Toronto with Burnett on the hill

4 at Seattle, now without Washburn, who is our nemesis, Bedard is hurt, and we miss King Felix

3 at Oakland

then days off flanking the sox series in Boston with Joba, CC and Burnett lined up.

3 home vs Texas with Pettitte, Joba and Burnett slated, and we own Texas

The toughest series, IMO, is the CWS series, with 3 at home. Then we go on the road to Baltimore to end the month.

We should take tomorrow's game vs Toronto, take 3/4 vs Seattle, 2/3 vs Oakland, lets say we go 3-3 vs Boston and CWS, and take the Rangers series 2-1, thats 10-6. And with the way NY is playing, that may be conservative.

Regardless, the yankee team is packed with a bunch of second half stars. CC, Burnett, Pettitte, Tex, Cano, etc. It likely wont get too close unless the sox go on a ridiculous tear

It will be a challenge getting the lead down to 4 by September 1st, but if they do,... watch out.
