Just for fun' date=' who would you rather have as the starting right fielder for the Sox right now?[/quote']

You don't even need to ask.

We might love Drew, but come on.

Whats the points of this thread? Markakis is basically BAL's franchise player

Besides I'd rather have Reddick

and really it's not like either one is head over heels above the other this year:

Drew: .250/.366/.455/.821, WARP: 1.9

Markakis: .298/.352/.466/.818, WARP: 1.1

If you're not gonna answer the question, then skip the f***ing thread.

It's just food for discussion and it's done in good nature.

Markakis is good but he is also a bit overated

Drew has a career 889 OPS , Markakis 845

Drew gets on base more

Markakis is slightly better on defense

I give the edge to Drew

Drew may have better stats this year but Markakis has the youth and is cheaper. Much higher ceiling.

If you put it that way then yes , Markakis

if you're talking for just this year only , JD is better

The purpose is to elicit an honest response and to encourage discussion in a positive manor.

Thanks for your input.

I guess I don't get what you're looking for. Never was Markakis an option for the Sox over Drew and it's not like we're comparing home grown talents here either as Drew is much older. Seems like another carefully disguised thread to get people riled up about Drew. But whatever I'm done here, my choice is Drew for this remainder of the year

Markakis is criminally underrated in baseball circles.

In 2008, Markakis placed in the top 10 in the American League in AVG, OBP, OPS, G, R, H, 2B, BB, OPS+, RC (runs created), and he led the league in Times on Base.

Dude can flat out play.

I'm a huge Markakis fan so this is a flat out no-brainer even though I love the overall package of what Drew brings to the table

I think anyone besides Drew fans would say Markakis. He can do it all- hit for power, drive runs in, get the steal(although he's slowed down on that), make the play. Great great ball-player.

Um, what?

Drew fans on this board have said Markakis.

The question in the OP was irrelevant anyway so it doesn't matter.

Is this even a legitimate question?

Yankee fans, Melky or Crawford?

Be serious.

My bro (a yankees fan) said melky.

Ok...calm down. I meant blind fans...next time I'll specify.

Drew can be frustrating sometimes. But overall I'm a supporter.

As far as Drew or Markakis?

Markakis by a land slide. It's not even close.

:D

So what is your opinion Doc?

Drew will need to move to LF in the near future to cut down on wear and tear. I think all protestations to the contrary, Bay will walk at the end of the year, Drew will become our LF, and we will make the choice between Reddick and finding a good veteran RF, as there are a couple of decent ones available.
