He basically just mentioned Buchholz, Lars, Bard, Masterson, etc as not being integral/central pieces of the team and thought they should try to make the trade. I don't think he really understands some of the talent we have. Sure, they might not be integral this season, but they are the future of this team, as in, the very near future.

 

He even said "It's not like we need to give up a established position player like a Pedrioa, Ellsbury, or Youk..."

Realistically, unless the Sox trade one of their starters, they have some interesting roster problems in bringing in Halladay.

They'd probably be trading Buchholz for Halladay, so I'd say keep Penny.
