I doubt the sox offer him arb unless he lights it up. He's making 7 mil, so I doubt he'd get anywhere near that on the open market, so he might accept it. At which point, the sox could be on the hook of 7+ mil for a non-starter.

I would say Kotsay, yes. He did a good job defensively but he just wasn't getting it done with the stick.

I disagree. Adam Laroche is a fair power hitter. Not great, but he gets the job done and he's young. He'll certainly get a multi year deal on the free agent market.

Also, I certainly wouldn't want to go into next season without a very good backup corner infielder whether or not we keep laRoche so offering Arb has a small downside.

you gotta think about his position. He's a .800 or so OPS first baseman who averages 20 homers a season. Guys like him are not worth 7 mil on this current market.

Some team in the offseason will need a power hitting first baseman and will settle on LaRoche for that role.

A bat!

Finally!

LaRoche at first + Youk at third is definitely better than the sacks of FAIL we've been trotting out there, including Lowell, who can't even reach 2nd on blasts to the wall anymore.

They need a spark' date='perhaps an internal brawl is appropriate, they have all the fire of a 60 yr old heroin addicted hooker.[/quote']

in my 7 yrs in the medical field, I have not seen one 60 yr old, heroine addicted hooker. Most of them die in their 30s or 40s

Thank you for your much-needed insight.

If Kotsay is dumped then all we have left for OF back-up is Baldelli. With his health issues' date=' this would seem risky.[/quote']

Yes well, we can't have everything. that's one of the reasons I wanted Mark Teahen first and foremost, but laRoche should be able to get the job done.

If we need more than 1 game's worth of backup outfield we should be able to call someone up.

I'm proud to say I was the one who got to add the roster move on Wikipedia

I was wondering how that got updated so quickly.
