Yeah.

You try pitching with an oblique injury.

Smoltz pitched coming off Tommy John, and that's when he gave up a lot of his runs.

I think Eck just admitted earlier that he snorted coke with Mr. October back in the 70's...

I've been reluctant to mention this up to this point, but a friend of mine was a "Financial Advisor" for Eck when he was with the Sox.

My friend said that Eck would show up in my friend's office for a meeting and crack an 8 ball open on the desk. Not really surprising. Nose candy was really big then (for those that could afford it).

Got to give him credit though. He overcame an addiction, became a dominant closer, and made it to the hall of fame.

whats the Pitch Count on Smoltz?

97 pitches. Don't see much of a reason to put him back out there for the 6th up by 8 runs. But maybe they'll try to stretch him out a little more.

yeah that doesnt suprise me yayo was pretty big then, and at least he wasnt like D. Strawberry.

what is funny is that John Smoltz and Eck are the only 2 pitchers in baseball history to record a 20 win season and a 50 save season just thought that was kind of funny.

Oooooo, that's a nice little bit of trivia there.

Jed Lowrie went 3-5 today in Pawtucket with his 4th double in 11 rehab games.

That's great. Now he is hitting over .100 at Pawtucket. Fianally.

Don't get me wrong, I believe he will make a very large contribution to the Sox this year.

Yeah, his 0-8 the last couple days was a little concerning.

It was after a year of recovery (usually takes 2 years to recovery from Tommy John) and he wasn't right that entire year. That's the reason he was originally moved to the bullpen. I realize Beckett was hurt last year, but Smoltz has over 200 postseason innings. I think it's safe to say that he's pitched hurt as well.

Not that it matters all that much, they're both on our team and if they're healthy they'll be starting for us in the postseason.

Not really when you consider what he has been through.

Assuming that his wrist continues to regain strength, timing will be the only issue. He's young, athletic, and smart.

He'll be fine.

Yeah, he's recovering from surgery and he'd been bounced around to 3 or 4 different teams to try to avoid rain outs. I just want him to get hot, come in and immediately perform for us so he can put all the doubts to rest.

I will take this opportunity to give a shout out to Dojji. Teahan has looked pretty f***ing good against the Sox.

Just sayin'.
