I know it would have been nice to see Smoltz notch his first win but I dont think he's crying about it

Actually I think Smoltz got lucky. He got to regain strength by facing big league pitchers but didn't have to face the full strain of a start. Like a stretch-out start in Spring Training. Enough experience to help him settle in but not enough wear to be any kind of concern. This might be beneficial down the road.

Excellent post. I was thinking that this may be a blessing in disguise. If nothing else, Smoltz boosted his confidence.

Strangely, I keep finding myself rooting for the Rays to beat the Jays. This concept of the Rays competing with us is still somehow new to me. :rolleyes: I have to keep looking at the standings to remind myself that the Rays are in 3rd.
