No' date=' I have actually always loved Wake. But you can't really compare the 2. One is a 4-5 starter with a pretty minimal salary, while one is supposed to be a 1-2 starter with a hefty salary.[/quote']

I don't understand how what # starter they are changes whether or not they are excruciating to watch... When Wake pitches against the other teams #1 does it matter if he's a #1 or a #5? I don't think so.

Anybody know why there's no Drew today? Just a regular day off?

Durrrr... Bastardo's a lefty. OK, never mind. I'm just missing Drew's 3.753 OPS (or something like that) in the #2 slot.

It's about money. Wake is a bargain for what he gives you. DiceK is not. It's pretty much all about expectation.

WARP

2008:

Matsuzaka (7.9--Leads team)

Wakefield (4.6--6th on team)

2007:

Matsuzaka (4.3--7th on team)

Wakefield (2.7--12th on team)

Again, he's been disappointing this season, but his combined 12.2 WARP over the last two years makes him more valuable than Pedroia (7.4 + 4.2 = 11.6) or Youkilis (4.2 + 2.3 = 6.5) or Ortiz (7.9 + 2.8 = 10.7), or Drew (4.2 + 2.2 = 6.4).

Frustrating to watch? Yep. Solid results in 2007 and 2008? Yes.

Worthy of patience and support. Definitely.

im a super lefty specialist, i never allow homers to lefties. I just walk em and let my boys ramon and manny get me out of jams!!

i miss red sox nation.

I've missed most of the game because I had a friend over. While walking my friend out to the car, I tripped and slid down my driveway. I have blood oozing from the knuckles and knee. Can I go on the DL?

I could use some time in Pawtucket as well.

Is it blasphemous to say that I really like Victorino? :D

And example1 - people get frustrated and vent, that's sports.

He takes everything so personally, and it is not even about him.

I also think it is pretty irrational baseball fandom. The season is 162 games and people freak out with every pitch and out as if it is game 7 of the ALCS. Patience is a virtue and nowhere is this more true than in watching your favorite baseball team.

Rational fandom? That's somewhat of an oxymoron. It must be boring to watch a game with you.

I don't take it personally. I want this to be a board that has quality dialogue, not people freaking out about a good pitcher who is going through his struggles. The thing that people take personally is the Sox decision to keep going with Dice-K.

Yeah, it really sucks to have a good dialogue about how the game is played.

You would clearly say the same thing about watching a game with Theo or Tito. I guess I'll take that as a compliment.

Like I said...that's sports. Fandom isn't supposed to be nor has to be rational.

If you think baseball is bad, I'll just point you in the direction of (non-US) soccer...

I'd rather watch a game with Lou Piniella than Theo. He's not my idea of a fun night at the ballpark.
