Do they have a choice?

If they don't sign him, they better put a blockade a round the stadium.........

No they don't have a choice, and Boras knows that. Don't expect a signing until 11:30ish on August 15th. Between now and then, we should hear plenty of Japan clubs being mentioned, also a lot of Independent league teams will undoubtedly be used as leverage from the Boras camp. Blah Blah Blah. It's the Dice-K negotiations all over again, and this time he actually has leverage. The only way it get's done before then is if Washington gives into Boras's demands, thus bending over the proverbial barrel.

Some people have siad that Boras holds all the cards. Really? Where does Strasburg go if he doesn't sign?

Sit out a year? Realistically, this kid has to sign. The Nats will take it up the ass, but it will get done.

They failed to sign their #1 pick, Aaron Crow, last year. I don't think they'll make the same mistake. But with Boras, it's going to take forever to get this thing resolved.

Looks like Boras is again up to his old tricks...less than 24hrs to go and no signs of an agreement yet...if he's signed by the Nats there is talk that he may join the D.C rotation as early as September...there are a lots of if's ! Any info on this anyone?

Still ticking.

Boras has been searching for a way to get around the amateur draft for years, is he going to use Strasburg to make a point?

Good for the Nationals. This one would have been pretty embarrassing if they hadn't gotten it done. I saw that Tate signed. Anyone know about Ackley?

EDIT: Ackley signs.

http://mlb.fanhouse.com/2009/11/20/stephen-strasburgs-knee-injury-will-not-require-surgery

I don't normally do this type of thing, but I used to live and work in DC, and I have 2 friends that work for the Nationals. I was chatting with one of them over the weekend, and he said that Strasburg's knee is much worse then what the team is letting out. He said that Strasburg will be extemely lucky to be ready to pitch by the beginning of the season.

I guess he's had dislocation problems prior because he used to be so heavy. And I guess it's finally started to take it's toll. The concern has always been his arm, I never even thought of injury like this having an impact on the beginning of his career.

Like I said, it's from a friend, just thought I'd share with you guys, take it however you want.
