A couple of cheap hits and Papelbon blew away 3 straight guys. He did his job. Dice K did not do his job. He got a cheap win going a measely 5 innings and giving the bullpen too much work.

Ehh, I give Daisuke a bit of a mulligan because he's coming back from a shoulder injury. We've been getting a number of 6+ inning starts from the rest of the staff, we can swallow a 5 and out from a player who's still bouncing back.

Well at least the Sox won. If I stayed up for that to have the Sox lose you'd probably never see me again. Although I didn't agree with the bullpen management, a win's a win. I've been outside of it (also outside of old Tiger Stadium and it looked like the dump it is) and it was pretty nice. Not many places I desire to go back to in Detroit, but the baseball field would be one.

Pitchers aren't gonna be as aggresive with him lower in the order.

 

So he can afford to change hs mindset and not auto-swing when he's ahead in the count.

He was having a rough inning but Eck was almost going personal with it, going on about how Dice-K makes him mad, etc.. You could tell Don didn't want any part of it, he was quiet as a deer for the whole thing.

Well he was annoying me too, so I agreed with him. What in particular did you notice about what he said? I agree with your assessment that he was pointing out his flaws, but maybe I disagree about making it personal. I'm not sure. What did you notice other than Eck getting mad at him?

 

I mean, as an ex-pitcher, it can be really frustrating to watch someone who makes, most likely, way more than you do and suck it up like Dice-K has for awhile.

I said 'almost went personal'. He was just raising his voice, complaining about Dice-K, pretty much that whole thing. I wasn't paying close attention b/c I was making dinner at the same time, but it seemed pretty needless and stupid.
