Doubtful. He's always had the skills (#1 overall pick in 2001). Hell' date=' he's already won two batting titles. He's one of the best players in the league.[/quote']

Sounds just like Arod to me, and we all know where that story ends...

Mauer is playing out of his f***ing mind right now, I wouldnt blame Papelbon as much as I normally would for giving up a two-run shot

You know, Papelbon may be making a huge error for not signing that huge deal earlier. He could be the next inline of a lot of high-rising and fast-falling relievers.

I left the house after the 8th inning, because Papelbon doesn't blow 3 run leads. He made it interesting, but he still doesn't blow 3 run leads. Mauer belongs in another league right now. Because I go to ST every year, I have seen a lot of Mauer since he was a rookie. It was obvious from the beginning that he is a stud hitter with no discernible holes in his swing. There has been talk about the Sox getting him to catch when he is a FA. I'd sign him to be the DH. I wouldn't mess with his knees and his overall health by having him catch.

It would be a massive bidding war between us and the Yanks for him. We know how that usually ends.

It depends on how our prospects are progressing. Right now, we have 2 very solid catching prospects. If Montero is still a catcher, he might be breaking in for 2011 with Posada as the platoon mate. I honestly am not sure they go with Mauer IMO. We'll have to see how the kids shake out.

I don't think the Yanks will have the patience to wait on prospect catcher when a player of Mauers caliber is out there.

we'll see. If it becomes a prospect grab in trade, I am not sure we will have the most high level parts available.

Penny was actually throwing up between innings , he was pitching while sick

Amalie Benjamin Twittered that earlier.

I guess Penny's a trouper.

I miss the manny-Ortiz days. If I was going somewhere on the day of the game' date=' I would wait until I saw them bat in the first inning before I left. Their ABs were a must see. Youkilis has become a great hitter and player and Bay has been great, but I will not make the extra effort to see their ABs. Their ABs are no different from a Pedroia, Drew or Lowell AB.[/quote']

What the hell has gotten into Mauer this season?

He's decided instead of just being the best catcher in baseball that he's going to be the best player in all of baseball.
