HOLY f***ING s***.

HAD THAT BEEN AT FENWAY, IT'D BEEN A WALK-OFF.

f*** f*** f*** f*** f***.

**this game was lost because Lester, Lugo and Pedroia did not do the 'I got it on a groundball' check-in before a weak gb back to Lester. He was cruising to that point and didn't get out of the inning because of it. It's as simple as that.**

Remember that if you're ever coaching kids about how to play the game and remind them why it is important.

Hey, you know who's killing this team?

Jeff f***ing Bailey.

What the f*** is he still doing in the lineup?

Bailey does f***ing suck but who else is an option? Carter?

Anyone.

Hell, play Lugo at 1st.

But get that 100% concentrated nectar of FAIL out of the lineup ASAP.

Our awesome starting rotation blew up again. They continue to suck. Is anyone still wondering what where they are going to find room for all the great starters when Dice K is activated, the 42 year old Smoltz is activated, and when the AAA dominating Bucholz is brought up?

I guess my thinking would be:

Given that Lester and Beckett have no apparent injuries, how good is this team going to be when those two become what we know they can be and the rest of the team keeps playing like they have been? They've not had Youkilis and Pedroia for periods no Dice-K and a s***** #1 and #2 AND THEY STILL have the 3rd best record in the AL.

I'm not satisfied either a700, but they are in a good spot overall.

I think they are in a good spot everywhere but the rotation. There are lots of questions in the rotation. We haven't seen 2007 beckett since 2007. Lester finds a way to give up a big inning in every game. Dice K looked like s*** before he was DL'd and even when he is healthy he has trouble getting into the 6th inning. I'm not expecting anything from Smoltz. Wakefield gives me an ulcer, and Bucholz is completely unproven at the ML level.

Well no wonder you have worries. All 3 of these guys I'm banking on at some point. I really don't think Smoltz will let us down because I saw what kind of bulldog he was here in atlanta. I'm a Wake homer - who gets more swing-and-misses in the rotation and who will eventually be the all time Red Sox win list leader in 2 years? Tim f***ing Wakefield will, that's who. And Clay is either a gifted young star or a new catcher. So I'm just fine with this year going forward. I'm not even worried about Papi or DH at this point. The team is playing .600 ball at 60% performance. Ok, maybe 75%.

I even like Nick Green. The only guy I really hate is Penny so far. Lugo still sucks for 9 million, but god damn, I think I'm even coming around to like JD Drew of all people. I like this team. No need to worry. It's not like we are the Yankees, Baltimore, 6.5 out, or an unproven Toronto.

s***, I even like Eck over Remy - and by a large margin.

We're fine. And let my last rant be that David Ortiz gets at LEAST half a season of sucking this bad before you take him out of the starting lineup. So he's got till the trade deadline to figure it out. He's earned that much good will for at the very least 2 of his 7 (6 brilliant) years in Boston...

The sox got to where they are right now based upon one of the easiest starting schedules in all of baseball (they were ranked 3rd to this point). That is helped by the fact that they saw the angels 6 times and missed Lackey and only saw Santana once. They were able to just mash their way through the league and protect any late leads they had. That wont be the case for long. The Yankees are getting their s*** together. The Jays wont be rollovers this yr, although I dont think they factor into anything. And the Rays are the Rays. They cannot continue to get 6 innings or less and 4 runs or more out of their SPs. It will come back to bite them, and it will contribute to pen fatigue. And as we all know, their pen is their best part of the staff thus far. What they are doing and thriving on is not sustainable. Not too many teams live by offense and pen. They are gonna need some contribution from their rotation if they are going anywhere this yr.

I was curious about how this is true. I think I heard it on YES or someplace earlier, and I was surprised. Here's the teams the Sox have played series against this year:

Rays (10)

Angels (6)

Yankees (5)

Guardians (5)

Orioles (4)

Athletics (3)

Twins (2)

Mariners (1)

Quickly, how is this a weak schedule? From what I see, they've played 21 of their first 36 games against either the Rays (08 AL champion), the Yankees or the Angels (best record in 2008). They're 11-10 in those games, against what I would consider the cream of the AL crop.

Meanwhile the Yankees have played the Rays, Angels and Red Sox for a total of 13 games out of 35. They're 4-9 in those games, against what I would consider the cream of the AL crop.

I'm pretty sure the stat that I heard was "strength of schedule based on opponents record", which is just stupid. Is that what you're referring to? I would say that the Rays, Angels and Yankees are a tough schedule, even if they got off to slow starts. The Yankees shouldn't get extra credit (no team should, for that matter) for playing teams like the Royals off to a good start. That's just me though.

Profound.

Yep, me too. Like Remy, he basically says it like it is but without that Master of the Universe attitude. Even Orsillo seems to be having a better time of it.

Sad state of affairs right now, and somehow the west coast just magnifies it all. I've not been a big fan of the unbalanced schedule at all, but the one thing it does do is make for less west coast trips. That alone is worth the mind-numbing amount of times they have to play the Yanks, O's, etc.

Josh needs to come up big today to stop the slide. We'll see. Shouldn't really be all that hard, because honestly, the Mariners stink.
