Hopefully we get something better next time we trade him.

Anyone knows how Beltre is progressing who was also part of the trade?

He was ranked 68th on the BP Top 100 list.

- Excellent raw skills with the potential to be a dynamic power/speed player at the plate. His plate discipline is awful and rarely draws a walk, while he very frequently will strikeout though not an absolute obscene rate. Beltre has struck out with less frequency at each stop and as makes good, consistent contact, the BB/K ratio is more choice than ability.

- Beltre had a .336 BAbip in 2008.

- He is a natural in the outfield with a solid arm and is plenty quick enough to have excellent range.

- Very lean build, but could put up Grady Sizemore kind of numbers if he fills out his frame as he matures physically. He can have that kind of impact across the board as a leadoff batter with power, albeit with a lower OBP and very good CF defense.

- He has the potential to be a 20 homer, 40 double, 15 triple, 50 steal offensive player on an annual basis, but seems to be on the path of either being an All-Star (which he would or never stepping foot in a big league ballpark.

He had a pretty decent stretch for us in 2007 but I wouldn't count on him to repeat it. He's probably a bit underrated, but there's so many more deserving candidates for playing time right now that I can't see how he possibly gets any here.

Lets just hope we don't have to hear the phrase "Kason Gabbard called up to Boston" anytime soon. If he is in a position to make an impact with this team we are in serious trouble.

I remember seeing the game Gabbard pitched at Fenway and didn't know who the hell he was. I caught that game in the middle of the 5th or 6th, and I thought he was somne new guy that came in out of the bullpen that day. Came to find out watching sports center he strated the game, and pitched his ass off. Then they trade him for Gagne, who like many of us Sox fans know was a complete watse of time. It was kind of like when boston traded away Shea Hillenbrand to Arizona for Byung Hum kim. We gave away our 1st ttime allstar 3rd baseman at the time for a looser.

I'm not sure about Gabbard this time around. i don't think he has had much success in Texas since he left Boston. We'll see

I'm thinking the same thing when I heard about the trade. But who knows, an extra arm can't hurt us. Maybe if Wakefield,Dice-k and penny all go down at the same time, he'll get called up and pitch the sox right out of the playoff hunt with an era over 15 lol.
